Hi guys.

I just bought a Manual 2008 FG F6 with 50,000kms on the clock.

My current ride (which I will be selling shortly) is a BA MkII XR6T manual with 250rwkw.

The plan is to mod th F6 to reach around the 300-320 rwkw mark, and my budget is around $5k. I will most likely be taking the car to Pitlane.

The budget will be spent roughly as follows (please check if it looks ok):

1. XCAL 3 and custom tune: $1500

2. Venom stainless 5' cat/dump pipe: $450

3. Nizpro cooler pipe kit: $450

4. XR8 intake & K&N filter: $180

5. Cone replacement pipe: $150 (this is for noise only - does it make much difference?).

6. Mal Wood Opt 3+ $1800

7. Replace centre muffler with straight pipes: $150 (this is for noise only).

Am I missing anything?

All of the above should keep the car and engine bay looking 100% stock, which is what I want. That's why I am reluctant to upgrade the intercooler.

Also the car can be returned to stock tune simply by changing back to the stock cat/dump (is this easy?), and re-flashing.

a) Is skipping the intercooler a mistake?

b) Should I also look to get the replacement elbow pipe?

c) Anything else?

P.S. I will post pics up on the weekend.

Cheers, Jake.

I would be replacing the cooler, apparently the f6 one is no better than Xr ones. Also you shouldn't need a clutch at that level.

1500 xcal and tune

2700 nizpro cooler, stainless 4" intake and battery relo.

450 your cat/ dump replacement

100 muffler cut.

What he said.

Do the stainless intake, more power and it will give you the noise you want.

The cooler kit from nizpro is good but at the power you want it might be a little over the top.

Bang on the money, except for the clutch.

Maybe spend that on a cooler or full exhaust instead.

Go the cooler before exhaust!

Clutch is apparently ok up to 340-350kw at the wheels if you are nice to it, saying that I had problems with mine putting out stock power - launch testing couldn't be repeated after the first one.

Mate the PWR Stepped cooler involves no cutting and would be a nice upgrade for the power you're chasing. $990 for the cooler and $430 for a coolerworx pipe kit to suit. That with your cat upgrade will land you 320rwkw all day.

I am in the same boat thinking of what to do...

And the limits of the components

What would be the next stage for the f6 Thinking of more 330kw close to 380kw

injectors

Fuel pump

Any turbo mods needed

thanks

Thanks guys!

It's awesome to get this detailed level of advice.

So I think that from the consensus above, my list will be as follows:

1. XCAL & Tune $ 1500

2. Herrod cooler pipes $ 450

3. Venom Cat/Dump $ 450

4. XR8 intake & K&N $ 200

5. PWR Stepped cooler $ 950

6. Centre muffler chop $ 150

TOTAL $ 3700

I will keep an eye on the clutch, but will budget for a Mal Wood Opt 3+ down the track.

I won't worry about the elbow pipe. To get the car back to stock tune, it will mean a

visit to a workshop to remove cooler and dump/cat pipe and reflash back to stock.

No need for valve springs, actuator, and turbo porting I guess at this level?
