Angel Eyes Transformer Specs?

Can someone tell me specs on the transformers that come in the kit with the angel eyes as amazingly after only 1 month one of my transformers has managed to pack up and die. so im looking to replace it asap

Also if someone knows the wattage of the rings would be handy

I have had 2 die, both on the turbo side. I have one spare now after buying two extras.

I think if this one dies I'm going to need this answer as well. I was thinking of measuring the watts/volts/amps output from the last good transformer and then getting something made up if I can't get a proper replacement. This would be fine yeah? Not like they are magic black boxes with secret BMW tech in them, just need to get the power in to change to whatever they output?

I'm worried they are super high voltage or something that might make it expensive to do though from individual components.

Haven't gotten around to putting air ducting in to try and keep them cool (theory that the hot turbo side is killing them).

Was yours on turbo side as well?

I had the same problem with mine, Blew 2 inverters in about 3 months

bought some from this ebayer http://stores.ebay.com.au/UK-STYLINGS they have singles or pairs for sale

they have been going ever since (about 6 months) with no issues what so ever

I changed the mounting of mine with the new ones as well, Just used a cable tie through one of the holes in the rad support above the headlight to hold it up and get some more air around it.

And I can't tell you the voltage but I know it f*cking hurts! I accidentally touched the two pins on an output connector and had a nasty shock and two small burn marks to go with it...

Lesson learnt that day

I dont think youll need to make them up yourself or anything like that mate.

I just need to know what type of a tranny it is so I can source some replacements

Yeh mine was turbo side aswell, pretty annoying its only lasted a month, when I get a replacement im gonna have to look into a more ideal location to place the unit if its only lasted that long.

The inverters/transformers/ballasts/whatever else the manufacturers call them are usually 12v DC input about 900-1000v AC output.

I think I've got a spare one in the garage still from when I Bought a pair last time one blew. Its from the same place as the ebay ones that have lasted 6 months.

I guess the multimeter wasn't lying about the output voltage!

My first one lasted about 9 months I think. 6 months for the second from memory.

Good to see you can get them from other areas! Maybe I should order a few more while they still exist, plan on keeping the car for a long time.

ive done abit more researching and they are an dc inverter.

If you are looking for replacements just go to ebay and type in angel eyes inverter and theres quiet a few being sold on there for round the $20 mark or less.

im just annoyed im gonna have to wait a month for them to either come from china or usa but ahwell im gonna get a few so next time one decides to pack it up I wont have this waiting time.

Might need to wire up a nice plug on the input side to match the headlight ones to make it faster to swap out, hahaha!

Ive done this myself, I wired up my parkers and angel eyes with insulated spade connectors so if I need to I can remove them or switch back to parker globes easily
