so are you guys all talking about voiding all forms of warranty, eg brakes, suspension etc or just engine warranty? because if I have to go back to ford for anything other then an engine related issue, I can assure you they will be covering it under warranty..

If you perform engine mods and/or a Tune or anything other than a catback exhaust, Ford can rightly refuse Warranty on any of the following parts:

  • Engine
  • Associated components such as drive belts, radiator, etc.
  • Turbo
  • Associated components such as intercooler, piping, etc.
  • Cat
  • Exhaust (obviously, seeing as you've replaced it with a different part)
  • Transmission + Clutch if Manual
  • Diff
  • Driveline (input shafts, output shafts, etc.)
  • Axle
  • Suspension

You could make the list longer but they should be obvious why. If you increase your cars power, each of those things listed above will be negatively impacted. Your suspension will take a beating because when you floor it, the force (particularly on the rear suspension parts) will be greater than they were designed for.

However, it obviously won't affect the warranty on your seats or your ICC or air conditioning and whatever. I also believe your brakes and rotors, lines, reservoir, etc would still be covered.

The exception on the Transmission side is if you get the ZF Milkshake. It's a known issue and there have been people on here with cars over the 3 year warranty period, with plenty of mods, who've got it replaced when it suffered the ZF Milkshake. Not guaranteed but you'd be able to fight for it and get it reasonably easy compared to say a new Turbo.

Hi all I have just bought a 2011 XR6T ute in edge, has only done 20,000ks and is un modified apart from me puting in better stereo and soundproofing. I want to keep this ute quite standard to the eye and not go silly spending big money on it. I dont want big power because I want driveline etc to last and if I went silly id probly crash the thing haha.

Plans are for 1" blocks in the rear to level it, $90 instead of $400 for leaves reset. And on the motor side of things I was thinking:

Herrod airbox

center or rear muffler removed

turbo intake muffler changed to plain alloy or stainless pipe (may not even bother with this)

42lb injectors

X3 and somewhere to have tune done

I dont want to replace standard I/C or I/C pipework.

What power would I be looking at with the above mods? Id like to make just under 300 I guess. Its always got 98 in it too

Any thoughts or ideas on this would be helpfull, thanks

I/C probly wont be needed at the power level im after and also the fact I never constantly flog my ute or hold it at max boost for long. Probly would only have tuned to 12-13psi with the above injectors. Im thinking the pipework will be fine for the low power im chasing and also the way I treat my ute.

^^ nope! People have blown off cooler pipes at stock power. Theres a reason as it's listed as high priority in the mods list. Cooler you can get away with as long as you keep the power at 280ish rwkw

By the way without a cat you're gonna struggle to get to 300 aswell. So add cat and pipes and you'll get 300, but will need a cooler to maintain that power
