So a few weeks ago on a Friday night on the prinny I got a fine for driving with my fog lights on, no warning as I've never heard this rule. Just fines on the spot.

Anyway fine arrives in the mail, and the officer has put the time in wrong, and purely because of his attitude I feel like contesting it. It's only $120 odd but not the point.

So what does it take for a fine to be contestable? FYI he put down 1pm, not 2am.

Or you can go to www.Sdro.nsw.gov.au and seek leniency based on certain circumstances, or if you believe an error has been made, information on requesting a review of your penalty notice is available on that website.

Pretty sure they don't need to give you a warning - it is in the road rules that we all read when we got our licenses of course innocent.gif

But yes if he has put the wrong time you might be able to get off on a technicality

here in nsw I see our hwp always driving with the driving lights on in fg falcoons

I bet that wont stop them giving me a fine when they pull me up for doing exactly the same thing :pooh:

It would probably not be worth fighting it as you will lose a days pay going to court to save $120, if you lost points for it then maybe but in Vic you don't always get your points back EVEN IF YOU WIN! (personal experience ) if you lost the fine may increase or worse still as it seems to be the same cops on the highway often, he will look for you and find something else to harass you for next time..

fark last time I was on the prinny, got home pretty early in the morning as you do, the gf got out and said 'only your foggies are on'. woops. guess I was just lucky that night.

if you dont lose any points I wouldnt bother contesting either. may cost you even more $$$ in the end.

Not sure about Vic but in QLD when the details on the fine are wrong, they just re-issue the fine with the correct details.
