Hi guys,

Just a quick question how long does a custom tune take? Ive been told by a few different time frames by Sydney tuners. they range from 4-5 runs and 30mins, 4-5 hrs and 2 days. What are your experiences?

Everyone is different, visit a few places and go with who you feel most comfortable with.

Depending on your mods I would allow for a whole day at least.

I would avoid anyone who does a 30min tune.

I wish it was a $400 30min tune, it would cost $770 if I went with them. That sounds like a generic that will be touched up to me. He did say it could be longer but usually around 30mins and 4-6 runs.

My 1st tune cost me $600 for 4 hours on the dyno and about 2 hours at my place the night before adjusting the mixtures so I could drive it to the dyno. My 2nd tune was $300 for 4 hours.

Its not about the money.. Its about getting a good safe tune for me. If it can be done in 30mins fine, just seemed to be very quick to custom tune a car.

Wouldnt it also depend on how many mods the car has? Like for example it wouldnt take as long to re-tune a std car, add some boost and lean on it a bit, rather than aftermarket injectors, exhaust, cooler etc.. Also how good the tuner is, if he has no idea about a certain brand of injector it would take a bit longer to get right..

It can't be done in 30 minutes. Peak power can be achieved pretty quickly, but it's all the tiny time consuming adjustments that take time.

that's my concern, making sure all the little adjustments are right on. It will be getting intercooler, injectors and cat.
