Hi folks

I consulted few workshops in regards to replacing the current heat exchanger and I've asked for ideas, further suggesting if I should fit the f6/territory unit on my xr6t and it seems all workshops have said to stick with the standard xr6t ones as they don't know if it will be a direct fit

Can anybody elaborate on this? The fpv unit seems to a bit thicker and I wonder if this will fit onto normal xr6t's

Suggestions will be full appreciated :buttrock:

I have an FGXR6T ZF and changed to the bigger F6 heat exchanger with more plates no worries.

Oh I get it, it's actually swapping the cooler too and not just the piping. I had originally thought it was the piping that caused the leaking.

So do u have to buy the parts separate or do they come in a kit???

OK went to Fraud to pick up the f6 cooler unit (223 bucks) and also found out u had to replace the pipes leading from the radiator/waterpump to the trans cooler (they now come with a 1 unit metal piping, which is supposed to be re-fitted to the BF's on request) The new piping from the radiator/water pump is to replace the old units which were plastic and were prone to leaking

so all up about 320-330 on parts alone

The idea is to replace the leaky plastic bypass valve. Unless you want to remove your whole intake, you can just replace the front section and leave the original rear section which runs behind the cylinder head.

I was going to do this myself but because of no play time situation with new baby and toddler I got Autotech to do it who agreed it was the best way.

I was one of the first to get a preordered FGXR6T mid'08 when they first came out. Originally on the options list you could get an Auxillary Oil cooler for about $200. Ford stuffed, bigtime. I ticked the box but received nothing as all ZF's come with the smaller yellow dot heat exchanger. I complained, as a few others did and got the whole Police Pack free which included the oil cooler/heat exchanger below and bigger ZF heat exchanger. Now, I repalce them every 2 years as the alloy is low quality and I don't want my coolant mixing with transmission fluid any time soon.

There is also an sandwich oil cooler/heat exchanger as part of this pack between block and filter which comes part of the Police pack on FG and is stock on F6.
