Guest XR8ED Guests Posted 05/02/03 11:55 AM Share Posted 05/02/03 11:55 AM Another option for people to consider with the shuddering brakes, is the rotors themselves.Who actually supplies them to Ford??I've heard in the past of this being a problem with both Ford, and Holden. Perhaps the design people need to do an upgrade...As for driveline snatch / shudder / whatever, I'd imagine it to be similar to what I experienced with both of my ED XR's.. I haven't driven a BA yet to compare, but just found it to be part of the character of the car.The materials in modern day clutches leave a lot to be desired, and I feel that they are partially to blame!Once you learn to drive the car how it wants to be driven, it soon isn't a problem!Ed

I had mine in at the dealer yesterday to get my problems sorted out. They replaced the front rotors and pads to fix the brake shudder.Replaced the switch module for the power windows that had broken a retaining clip. The high ptich noise turned out to be the windscreen seal at the top of the window... new screen and seal is on order.Alternator whine through the DVD(only when playing it throught the stereo) still has them confused. I keep telling them to add a quality noise filter to the back of the stereo but they insist that ford needs to suggest the solution , not the dealer or owner... a bit pissed off about that one.Window tint (one window needs to be redone) to be booked in at a later date .... not urgent. My manual XR6T is due at the end of March, but the more a read this thread, the less I think I want it? Most of the other problem mentioned don't really concern me because they can be fixed under waranty, but every manual seems to have this 'shunt' and everybody is complaining about it? Can anything be done, or should I cancel my order.... :(

Guest MR T6 Guests Posted 07/02/03 12:05 AM Share Posted 07/02/03 12:05 AM I have had a few problems with mine;1) the car was delievered with 2 chips out of both front rims,2) I found a piece of paper rolled up sitting next to the engine that had been on the verge of catching a light.3) There was a loud knock coming from the rear of the car, it turned out it was one of the control arms holding the shocks in place was tightned up fully.4) the plastic around the gear stick and middle console would get really really hot, almost unbarable to touch. This has all been fixed.I have since done almost 1900k's and everything is going good. But the other night I went out for a cruise, I had been driving for a hour or so when the people in the back were saying that the back seat was heating up, I just thought they might of just been getting to excited, so I pulled over to check it out, and they were right you could feel the heat coming through the back seat, I even burnt my fingers when I put my hand down between the seats. I havent told Ford about this yet, I will wait until the service comes up. Has anybody else had this happen to them?

No doubt every car is differerent, if you are unlucky to get a car where several componenets are all on the loose end of the spec then the cumulative effect will be unacceptable shunt. We had our 3000km service last week and had the dealer measure the driveleine to see if it was in spec, which it was. Gggggrrrrrrrr. Told him l wasnt happy and wanted something done about it, so now the car is booked back again. They want it for the entire day so they can strip everything down and mesure each component so they can send off all the measurements to Ford to see what they are going to do about it.Something better come of it. Guest Turbo-6 Guests Posted 07/02/03 04:04 AM Share Posted 07/02/03 04:04 AM I found a piece of paper rolled up sitting next to the engine that had been on the verge of catching a light.I also found a piece of paper near the engine, and it was a bit burnt. The paper looked like something from the factory and contained specs and codes of my car like engine, transmission, paint, trim, sido, vin, serial no, job no, etc. It also had the word 'reject' on it??? Guest Turbo-6 Guests Posted 07/02/03 06:22 AM Share Posted 07/02/03 06:22 AM What had the word reject on it? I would be very concerned with that.It wasn't specific - perhaps it is just a standard field on the form for any reject components.
