Todays task was to rectify the following things:1. Power Steer Belt Shreaded. 2. Sqeak in Brakes, seem much better now. Had discs machined at 7000 kms - no more shudder. 3. Brake Pedal noise everytime you touched it - they fixed that. 4. Parking lamps were suposed to be removed as they are illegal, new replacements arent available, so they were told to leave the originals till they can replace them. 5. Overall the car feels much better now after 14000 kms and this service, it has no more sqeaks, except for one in the rear when you plant it, but I think that's got to do with the suspension, has anyone else had this problem? Guest anthoc Guests Posted 10/08/03 01:48 AM Share Posted 10/08/03 01:48 AM The seats are really too high-set in the car when you have a sunroof. In order to sit properly, my head touches the roof lining - very annoying. I'm only 1.8m tall so not so tall that this should be the case. The sunroof liner seems pretty agricultural, not very well finished and it droops in the driver's corner (probably because it has no clips to hold it against the roof like the hand grip on the passenger side). Anyone else had this problem??Also the leather seats are too rounded at the shoulders. They push your shoulders forward and down. Lumbar support stinks. It slowly retracts back over days and in general your posture in the seat is extremely bad. I have to use a towel and I have a mate who also has a turbo - he uses cushions, towels, you name it.Love the car, hate the details or lack on detail in seats, roof liner and console. Console plastic is very badly designed and made. A source of squeaks and rattles in about six months.
Guest keithg Guests Posted 12/08/03 06:05 AM Share Posted 12/08/03 06:05 AM Well I have had my turbo now for 23000 klms, and I am still having problems. The latest one occured early last week.It seems that my turbo doesn't want to boost up properly. I had a boost guage fitted 6 months ago, it monitors boost at the inlet manifold. It has always given me consistent readings, eg when I give it a foot full, it nomally spools up quickly to around 6-7PSi.Last week when I was driving to work I noticed that it was feeling a little slugish when accelarating, now I am lucky to hit 3 PSi now.I took it to the dealer and amoungst other things it was there for a couple of days, and they don't know whats wrong with it. Apparently they have sent all the data they collected off to Ford to see if they can replicate the problem and get a fix.Are any of you experiencing this kind of problem??? Look at the AU. besides, I guaruntee that every new car has something faulty to be fixed under warranty. Well these problems usually are only minor luckily.if you need any reassurance about the BA XR6T you can always just compare it to a holden! nekcuf holdens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mercurial Member 47 Member For: 21y 8m 6d Posted 23/09/03 12:24 AM Share Posted 23/09/03 12:24 AM My problems so farCracked Visor mirror on passenger side - still waiting for replacement 5 months later.Water pump o-ring failure at about about 3000k's replaced and fixedDriveline shunt - had diff replaced at 15000 k's - no changeLower timing gear on Cam shaft(?) failed at 16000 k's - towed away and repaired under warranty.5th gear synchro started going at about 14000k's - new gearbox due next week.Brake shudder arrived after 10000k's, machined at 15000, but starting to come back.Pretty disappointing Maybe should have bought another Rex. Thrashed my last one for 160000k's, and had standard services only, plus a clutch and 3rd gear synchro (under warranty) at 100000k service.
