Thanks guys. Hope that’s all it is.

Was really pissed of that the guy that rang acted as though I was full of sh*t, and that there was no coolant leak at all.

What could cause the coolant to be below the min mark when I checked it, but when they checked it it was back up to normal level. Is this possible?

Agree on the comment on the Water Pump o ring....Mine only leaked when parked on a steep drive way, and then I got a big mark spill on the driveway.

Put it on ramps and looked from below and saw it leeking very slowly from rear of pump, where the solid pipe goes in.

Went to Dealer and they changed the Pump as the rear o ring was leaking, especialy when cooling down and on a slope.

Seems fine now.

Also...on the exhoust rattle. I had a rattle sound at idle that was a real pain.

Turned out to be the heat shields around the exhaust system.

They are very well screwed and tied together, except for the last 6" or so which seems to not close up properly and vibrates, especialy at idle in gear.

I bent it back into shape (ie closed it up and bent the edges over each side to lock it down....A large loop clamp would do the same. The noise is now gone.

Rear seat update.

I took that car back to the dealer and spoke to the service manager. (You got to love a small dealer where EVERYONE! knows you by your first name!) He had a look and advised that he would order another rear seat cover. They have actually replaced the seat cover. The one they got from Ford looked like it had not been sown correctly (or was a repair job to begin with!?) So now it is on order. Apart from that. I have owned the car for 4 weeks now and I still can't get the smile off my dial!

Re the mats and dash mat. I spoke to the Spare parts manager and he advised that they had them made up. So if anyone wants ones like mine you could either order them from SunFord in Sunbury (0397442311) or get your local dealer to contact them and find out who did them. I am more than happy with mine.

The Sunford Part numbers for them are....

Dashmat $50 (I think) F5406/XR - Still trying to get it to sit flat. But am still happy with it.

Carpets $110 BAF13002XR6/8/T (this includes 2 front mats and one long rear mat that goes over the hump.

My car is getting somethings done now..

- CD Player (Premium Sound) jumping on all cds (needs replacement)

- Windscreen wiper scratching screen

Also when you turn the lights on and take the keys out that long beep that it does.. doesnt do that anymore..

Had my Premium sound system replaced last week. The system had no power at all. The display still showed the air controls and the clock, but no sound system. Checked mobile phone and all other connections.

Dealer replaced (one had to come from Melbourne) no problem. I'm waiting for my CD's to be returned because the dealers aren't allowed to touch the systems.

I was told that there are 6 different electronic circuits inside the centre bit, so I think it was probably just a dud soldered connection or something simple like that.

Goes into the s**t happens file.

Minor exhaust rattle at idle, as another member said, only the heat shield, and fixed now.

Only 2000 kms, but it only gets a "little" thrash at a time whilst it's still this new.

Emphasise "little".

 Give the cars a chance to sort themselves out - even consider the old "running-in" principles, and you might find that you will end up with a better "trained" car.

12,295 view's goddam!! :eeek:

Taking my T in for an oil change tommorow I've got 2 minor problem's that I need to have fixed at the same time.

1. Ticking sound coming from the steering at low speed's or when stationery, started a while back and is just getting louder and louder.

2.Belt squeal when the engine's cold.

Both simple fix's hopefully.

Belt Squeal fixed(sprayed a bit of belt slip on it).

New Power Steering Rack on order return Monday to fit <- makes you confident when driving it....

The only problem I am having is the wait for my XR6T. I ordered my Narooma Blue with Premium Brakes/Premium Sound/Alarm/Sun roof/18 inch rims/Momo Wheel + shifter in February and have been told by my Dealer to expect at least another month. Doesn't help living in the west.....can't wait!!!!!

ps

Great reading...only stumbled on this web site yesterday...nice too see so many XR6T lovers out there!!!
