XRSEX you cant blame Ford yet, It might be the aftermarket alarm for all you know at this stage.

The aftermarket alarm has been in there since the 20th of March. I also have a turbo timer/boost gauge in one unit fitted and also satellite navigation. I got the auto electrician who is my brother to disconnect everything and still no solution. The car was running fine and it just happened out of no- where. The turbo timer/boost gauge as a matter of fact is fitted in my Ford service managers car and he hasn't had a problem. The navigation was installed under VDO instructions with only 1 wire that had to be tapped into the kick panel on the passenger side. The alarm was also fitted with specific instructions. I know you are all saying that it could be my brother but he specialises in satellite navigation, quicktrak, alarms, stereo's etc. As a matter of fact he installs all of the above for Ford,Toyota,Subaru,BMW dealers in the Sydney area and is up to date with all new technology.

I'm not saying it's anyones fault until you've had it looked at and fixed you cant say it's anybodies fault.

All I meant was that you cant blame FORD until you know for sure.

Mind you tommorow night I'll probably be eating humble pie but until then it's all up in the air.

Dagabond you were right!...

Actually Ford rang me 9:00am and said its ready.

They said it was a body control module that had mysteriously unplugged itself. I think my car has a ghost. Since the module was up behind the dashboard where no-one has been there yet. MMMMmmmm. I wonder, but I am happy as Larry with the car back. Oh Yeah!!!!!...

I'm glad you have it back so soon and are happy with it. It was lucky they found it so fast, a problem like that could keep and auto elec busy for hours trying to track it down.

Back to the dealer today about the second set of stuffed front rotors. The foreman advised that dealerships have been supplied with an interim fix service bulletin. Ford was so sick of the piling-up stuffed rotors that they have now advised dealers that they are not to replace, but just machine. The foreman said that I will be back again as it won't go away, but he was confident that a permanent fix will be available soon. He also said that the will continue to machine until one of two things happen, 1. the rotors are machined to their minimum size at which time they will be replaced or 2. the permanent fix is available and the new 'good' rotors will be fitted under warranty. It is a pain, but when the rest of the car is this good, I think I'll put up with it!! My dealer has been more than helpful in dealing with this problem.

My XR6T is a Dec 2002 build and when I took it for the 3000km service last week I was surprised when the service manager told me there were no software/ecu updates for my vehicle. After reading this forum for the last 5 months, I was expecting at least maybe one update to be performed?

AMoffat, I wonder if its a software upgrade that you need. Make sure yours has the latest version.

I rang the service manager at the dealer he said they would look at it when I bring it in at 3000 klms. I wondered if that was the problem - but then with a March 03 build you would think it would already have the upgrade ex-factory.

Is this still at no cost to the customer?

I had a similar problem to AMoffat. while joining the freeway gave it a fair bit of throttle. I accelerated up to about 80-90 then it coughed and stuttered. I backed off, then gently accelerated back up to 120 with no dramas. that was the only time it has happened.

it was in normal drive mode and had been running for about 10 minutes.
