My car has come back from service today. The oil leak is to do with the turbo and the part has to be ordered. Looks like it will be going back a 3rd time. At least they detail the car every time I pick it up !!

Well my problems are much the same as everyone elses!

1) Brake shudder when applying light brakes at speeds over 60klm. This has been resolved by machining the front disks. This problem occured around the 5000klm mark.

2) Replaced 2 leather door trims. Poorly manufactured. One door handle/armrest was very loose, and the other had a small hole next to the driver side door lock.

3) Clunk in diff when changing from 1st to second. Drive train has been inspected by the dealer, they can't find anything wrong with it. I am putting it down to driver error.

4) Whistle from the front center windscreen area, when travelling at higher speeds (around 140), but due to frequent freeway travell, have noticed the noise at 110 - 120 when passing trucks or in high wind areas. sh*ts me off, and is not resolved as yet. On a side note, I have driven the XR8 at similar speeds and it does the same thing.

5) Driver side window winds down automatically when using the remote to unlock the car. Also does it when key is placed in ignition on accessories, when car has been unlocked using the key. Unresolved.

6) Clips directly above turbo holding the water cooling pipes will melt due to extreme heat. Remove them.

7) Rubber pipe below the thermostat housing, that connects to the water cooling pipes is cracking. Unresolved, just needs replacing.

Mate, this is nothing to do with driver error. Sounds to me as though you are another victim of driveline shunt, due most likely to a diff crown & pinion with too much slack in the gears.

Ford wont do something about this unless your car is outside of their very generous specs. l am afraid this is for me the most disappointing aspect of an otherwise excellent car.

I have noticed what appears to be rubber specks and shavings flung around engine bay. they are very small. 4000k's. F'd service said it was dirty fan belt, so they "cleaned" it. Sounds a bit sus but see what happens, also brakes starting to shudder. otherwise no prob's an incredible car!!!

Ok, after 7500k's these are mine

1. Oil leak from Diff (not resolved)

2. Boot leak (resolved)

3. Door trim screws, and various screw caps missing (resloved)

4. Wiper blade nut cap missing (resolved)

5. Chip in paint, pre-delivery (resolved, but need to re-apply paint protection)

6. Centre console material bubbling (resolved)

7. Driver door trim damaged, pre-delivery (not resolved)

8. Alternator Whine (not resolved)

9. High Speed whistle (now heard at low speed) with windows up only! Windscreen rubber lifted(Not resolved)

10. Disk Brakes warped!!!!!! (Machined once, back again, not resolved) THIS IS GIVING ME THE sh*tS TOO!

11. Seat bases broken (resolved, not broken again, yet)

This is what I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there is more.

As you can imagine, I'm not to impressed about this, and if the car didn't go as good as it does I'd be one very, very unhappy camper!

Dude I think you jinxed yourself with your signature.

Here's hoping you don't have too many more dramas, good luck with it all. I'm glad that there is only one thing not yet resolved. The mystery winding down window upon unlocking with the keyless entry.

I've told my dealer about the common brake shudder problem, guess what..... he reckons he's never heard of it! How odd!!!! Good thing is, he now knows I know of it.

Got him to do a wheel alignment check on my car before I pick it up, keep an eye on your tyre wear! Should be here Monday 24th (11 days late, so far!) Will be armed with a list from this string!

But still can't wait for it, any longer and I'll have to take the demo out for another 'fix' the poor ol wife's Laser is getting tired :D :D

Nah, as Ed-au noted, Mal may have jinxed himself with his signature.

l have the diff shunt problem, and had a loose drivers side door trim and an airbag light problem that were both sorted. that's about it, and our car was a Nov 02 build which l think was the first or second month Turbos were built (apart from the early ones made for demos/press cars)
