Had my XR6T since mid February.

Only two real niggles:

1) There's a bit of a rattle in the rear when cruising at 50-60kmh

2) The radio reception is crap. FM is okay but, as I'm on the road a bit, I often change to AM to listen to some decent news. Have great difficulty in picking up any AM stations

Other than that it's great. I used to have a VX SS but the XR6T eats it !!

Bit disappointed that the power windows switches do not light up at night. Can be a bit tricky fumbling for the switches at night

Do you have your windows tinted ?

If so this could be to blame for poor AM reception

Check out the thread 'tinting more confused than ever' for my comments on window films

Vik351,

I am not sure of the brand. I need to call in at the dealer tonight so I will find out and advise.

I also have non genuine XR Turbo mats. The rear mat is a one piece jobbie that goes up and over the hump.. Good protection I think... (I think they get them from the same supplier..) I will advise.

Oh just on the service. They fixed the seat but it looks like thye have just stitched it up rather than replacing it. All out of shape now. About to put in a call to the service manager this this.. Not real happy..

My problems are small. Very loud whistle above 110 kph, wheels weren't balanced so vibrations at speed. Had them reballanced and still not 100%. Car backfired once when starting and smoke came out of everywhere! Scarey, but only damage seemed to be a vacuum hose that blew apart which I put back together. Have done about 2,000k's in about 10 days since then with no dramas.

On the whole I reckon these are awesome cars. You have to expect some problems with any car. My last car was a Honda S2000 and I had more initial problems with it - and I reckon Honda build fantastic cars, as good as any manufacturer in the world.

Let's be positive, at least they don't have all the dramas of the Gen 3 Chev engines!

Vik351,

The mats I have do not move at all. They have a backing on them that interacts with the carpet to stop them moving. These mats are aftremarket ones (but purchased through the spare parts guys at my dealer).

They are just fine what what I was after.. They were free from the dealer ($110 worth)

Went to get into the car today and noticed a big puddle of coolant at the front of the car. Checked the coolant level and it was below minimum. Had the car towed to be on the safe side as I wasn’t about to drive it with no coolant in it.

Weird thing is I received a call from the service department who tried to tell me the coolant level was normal and that I must have seen water from the aircon system (yeah right!)

Hopefully its nothing too serious.

Tas.

Give the service dept the hurry mate as they all seem to think everybody has no idea.I think there were prevoius posts on water pump leakage so be carefull.Dont what ever you do run your T out of water. They all say the failsafe systym cuts in but you get any motor to hot and you will pay in the long run.Use your good discreation in this matter what ever you do.

Tas, sounds like it might be the water pump o-ring problem that Ford are having a few problems with at the moment.

Should be an easy enough fix.

Good luck and let us know how you go.
