Guest falchoon58 Guests Posted 20/03/03 12:03 PM Share Posted 20/03/03 12:03 PM You guy think you've got it bad. I picked up my Turbo on Nov 27 2002. From the 24th of Jan 2003 my turbo's been back to the dealer 6 times. It's had 4(four) replacement sets of front disc rotors, the first being replaced after 3500km. New rotors last about 2-3 weeks worth of city peak hour driving. The dealer just throws there arms in the air and keep replacing rotors. Now I wait till they replace them, then drive to work! Drive line "shunt/backlash" is worse than an old XE falcon I used to own, the o/s/f door window regulator has packed it in, body control module was replaced before it could be recalled, which left the car un able to be locked! Now I have a metallic "click" coming from either uni joint or gearbox. The gearbox(manual) has displayed what seems either clutch rattle or imput shaft(1st motion shaft) bearing noise. No alternator noise, but the serpentine belt getts a bit noisy when hot. Rear brakes are also now "graunching" on light pedal pressure but only when you hit a bump or expansion joint. But the worst problem is a front end "shimmy" which happens all the time but is intermient. You can drive all day and the car will be smooth, or on occasions can be so rough due to the wheel "shimmy" that the floor pan vibrates!Does anyone out there want to get together to put some pressure on Ford as the engineers are apparently working on a "fix", but I've been waiting for sooooo long for any improvement. I think I've bought a "developement Mule"!

The gearbox(manual) has displayed what seems either clutch rattle or imput shaft(1st motion shaft) bearing noise. Driveline snatch is common. Please describe the "click" in more detail. Also, the gearbox noise, is it rollover noise? ie With engine running and car in neutral, it whirrs, but if you put the clutch in it stops? Has it jumped out of third or fourth gear yet? PM me your service manager's phone number and your details, I'll call him.
Guest Guests Posted 21/03/03 09:32 PM Share Posted 21/03/03 09:32 PM Coolant leak, did not know from where. Power steer pump leak. All fixed, even washed the car. Replaced power steer pump, water pump had stuffed O ring. BTW that stupid plastic clip that melts above turbo is an assembly line clip and is supposed to be removed at pre-delivery, guy showed me the letter from ford stating this. HellionXR6T I'm Back!! Thats right, long over due! :) Lifetime Members 4,348 Member For: 22y 3m 4d Gender: Male Location: West Brisbane Posted 21/03/03 11:05 PM Share Posted 21/03/03 11:05 PM Just when you think all probs are fixed. :( Another classic series 1 problem. Got out of the drivers seat yesteday, only to hear "CRACK". Oh yes, now the strip of plastic running down the right side of the seat (the part with the seat height adjuster on it), has come away from the seat by a cm or two. Oh great!! Has this happened to many other people after this was a 'topic' on 'fordxr6turbo.com' way back? Has the dealor fixed the problem with little fuss? cost? It should be covered under warranty shouldn't it??? :o
Guest vasilih Guests Posted 22/03/03 01:19 PM Share Posted 22/03/03 01:19 PM The only problem that I have had is waiting for the bloody thing. I ordered Dec 19 2002 and am expected to take delivery this week some time. I can't wait. B) My Ford dealership have been really good about it. Keeping up to date on where it is and where it is up to in the build process.
