Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has some advice on modifying your car and keeping it all legit with the insurance provider.

Basically I'm planning on modding my f6 (exhaust, cooler, injectors, pump, tune etc etc) but I just wanted to know if anyone has had any trouble with being knocked back or refused cover?

I'm with just cars, and understand that they are the best with 'modded' cars, but I'm scared they will say no when I tell them? Would it be best to just ring them anonymously and ask the question?

The other risky option is to not say anything and in the un-likely event that something DID happen (touch wood)just return the car to standard before the assessor views the car?

Also, do u think the minimal amount of cutting required to fit a big cooler will give me any troubles down the track in terms of insurance?

thanks in advance, dom

Just car don't care about the mods. My premium was $50 more after the mods and I have what you mentioned.

call AAMI , found them great to deal with even after a stack 320rwkw

Get the mods listed on your policy , bare in mind that they have categories within in

which to place mods.

U can get away with squirters and edit , an assessor is unlikely to pick these up.

They can list intercoolers and zorts IIRC easily

If I were you I would ring them and say what you want to do and see what they say before you do it. They will either say yes and your excess will be $$$$ or No we wont. Then if you get a no your still insured and you can ring other companies to see who will accept the mods.

I agree, call around first.

It seems like russian roulette to me. I was with AAMI pre modding, contacted Shannons, got Nizpro 2+ fitted and changed over. Policy went down $180/yr and excess from $600 to $500. Atop of this I got agreed value 3k more.

I have no idea how this happened but I did organise everything at the All Ford Day in Canberra at the Shannons stand.
