F6 Upgrade Confusion

Hi all,

I have a FG F6 with a custom tune, 4' dump, high flow cat & standard cat back exhaust. It's making 302rwkw on 11 psi. I want to get a little more but don't want to sell the farm. The tuners in Brissy say that I need to spend 5k on: full cat back new exhaust, upgrade injectors, upgrade fuel pump, upgrade intercooler etc...It's all very confusing - is there a better value for money way for more gain without the pain?

I was thinking a new cat back exhaust only but am open to sugestions.

Questions:

1. Do I need to change injectors & fuel pump if I go for a 3.5" single cat back system? (been told I do)

2. What gives me a little more bang for my buck - say 330 - 350rwkw?

3. Is a intercooler really necessary for 330 - 350rwkw?

Any value for money ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers

An intercooler really is needed. Also you'll be needing injectors.

$500 injectors

$2k for a cooler kit fitted

Re tune.

$3k.

Should see 350 IMO.

Catback, surge tank and fuel pump, should see 400 me thinks.

Intemercooler a must IMO to prevent heat soak

some 60lb Dekas or similar squirters.

don't worry about the zorst as a high flow cat should free up the stock set up.

If a sedan I would recommend a surge tank for 300rwkw plus for insurance

On an F6 I would just do injectors and retune, might also be worth changing the intake piping too alloy as the plastic ones tend too break once boost is raised.

Let the dyno queens worry about heatsoke for the moment, but if your budget is 5k then yeah full intercooler kit would be you next step.

Better cooling means denser air which means more timing can be dialed in with intake, combustion and exhaust temps being lower.

Better flow and less pressure drop is another advantage which reduces stress on the turbo and improves throttle response and overall performance.

Getting the air in and the exhaust out as efficiently as possible means the engine will make power easier and hold that power for longer.

Intercooler is worthwhile at any level of modification.

F6s already have greay rwkw, let alone with high-flow cat and "tune"....initial stage seems ordinary. Intercooler/exhaust/injectors - the next tune should see real gains.

Adam I agree, but on the street (maybe 10-15 mins between extended WOT) driving through cold air I think an exhaust will help the turbo produce more power then a cooler.

If you put a full intercooler kit on an stock exhaust or a full exhaust and stock intercooler it's obvious which will make more power.

I don't think "back to back" is that important for street cars as your not on WOT 100 or even 10% of the time.

Just my 2c
