Cheers! I'm keen to see some tuned ZFs go to the track to see if they can easily beat previous PBs, so we can see if it is improving performance and how much.

Hey Guys,

Just picked up my BF XR6T yesterday morning after having the ZF tune completed, just wanted to post up my thoughts as well. As I had the day off yesterday, I had a good chance to play around with it during the day with normal driving, then took it out late last night to give it a bit of a workout, and I'm absolutely ecstatic with the result and changes made! While the ZF is a great gearbox out of the factory, this custom tune has turned a great gearbox into an even better one. Here's what I have noticed so far:

- During light to medium throttle, car feels so much nicer to drive, gear changes are nice and firm, minimal delay, very precise

- Shift points have definitely decreased, car doesn't hold onto gears for too long like stock, just nice sharp gear changes with no delay

- Feels so much more responsive in general, the box feels and behaves the way it's supposed to

- WOT gear changes are unbelievably quick! While the changes are firm, they are still very smooth and it's almost a seamless transition between gear changes that results in constant fluent acceleration that just pulls and pulls, it's unreal

- MUCH better fuel economy!

So those are my thoughts so far guys. As you can tell, I'm very pleased with the results. It is really worth doing.

As for the cost, I know a lot of people have been complaining about the $500 price tag that comes with this tune and to be honest it is expensive, but there is a lot of work in tuning these gearboxes to get them right. It took around 2 days to get the tune in my car right. My tuner showed me the amount of tables there were to play with and just how big each table was to show me he wasn't kidding when he said tuning these boxes is a lot of work. The amount of time required to get them right makes it not worth doing, from a cost point of view.

The best thing is to go for a drive in a car that has had the tune done if you can, and then you can make up your own mind whether it is worth $500 to you or not.

Cheers

How much better would you say? I'm liking what I'm hearing from everyone. Since I got my engine tuned the box holds gears even longer. Might looking into doing this in the future with a cooler if no boxes go bang in the next 6 months!
