Would a generic trans tune work? Just a simple one for people that want don't want anything specific besides the operation 'cleaned up' a little bit? Charge half the price of the tune and load it up in 5 mins?

give it twelve months and this will be the norm for most tranz tunes IMO.

No warranty would be given on the hardware of the transmission, as always with any calibration if you are not happy with the way the transmission has been calibrated take it back to the tuner who done the job.

Herod has thrown everything into his test cars and in nomral conditions nothing will go wrong with the hardware , if anything higher shift pressures will ensure longer life. we have given you guys the tools that have been needed to have your trans calibrated and the only way you can have your trans calibrated is by a tuner that has done training with herrod and is accredited, we have done this to protect you the end user.

sct is there anyway to enable the mode that the auto disconnects the torque convertor in D with foot on brake

sounds like a noob stupid question, but I read somewhere that our ZF has the ability to disengage? the torque convertor in drive with foot on brake... sounds silly and its probably not the correct terminology, but im surprised its not a feature included from factory, in D my car will sometimes sit @ 2.3L/ph put it in N and it will drip to 1.6L/ph both with the ac running

Yeah I roll up to lights as far as I can in N to save fuel :) on the long waits in traffic leaving work it probably saves 300ml or more a day!

Oh but I stick the handbrake on after stopping so unless the ZF can disengage totally from park brake signal as well it won't help me as much. Sitting on the brake pedal is to be avoided if you've just pulled up hard and put some decent heat into the pads...warps rotors.

That's not how a torque converter works. It's a fluid coupling.

I understand how it works I was trying to quote the article I read from memory, I will google it to see if I can find it if I can be bothered, afaik there is no mechanical connection to the box from the shifter, so it may be a simple switch into N when foot is on brake and back into D when brake is off, at idle...

It was an article specifically about the FG ford and ZF, can't remember the source

If you were to get the ZF tuned before the engine tune, would you need to get the ZF re-tuned at a later stage or does it make no difference whether you do it before or after?

Good question! Never thought of it being done the other way around.
