Macs are for noobs!!! they are incredibly overpriced, sometimes contain equivalent PC hardware and yet costing twice as much. iTunes is the only decent software they have, and that sh!t is on windows ! Graphics aren't high end, but that's because you don't play games on a POS! That's not a big deal (NOT!) The Apple's Innovative security argument is laughable. For a computer to get a virus, someone has to write it. More people use PCs, so if I wanted to infect a bunch of people I'd write a virus that spreads via PCs. Mac users like to think that PCs get an exaggerated amount of viruses, but anyone who has the brains to install a simple anti virus program has nothing to worry about or stop visiting porn sites! I would only recommend buying one if you are a complete noob when it comes to computers or if you love holdens

Windows 7 is still sh*t. I've had no end of trouble with my Windows 7 laptops. Next laptop will be a Macbook Pro, just to see what they are like. Apparently they don't 'slow down' as they get older as much as a PC.

The new 'Windows 8' looks to be heading the same way as Apple as far as interface (remember Apple first invented the graphical interface & Microsoft copied it).

My PC is 3 years old and is still fast to boot and load things...mainly because I don't install useless crap or let the drive fill up :) I'm quite pleased with it and expect the drives inside will die before the OS fails. Still using XP and I got a free copy of 7 as well from Uni days!

I do install useless crap & let the drive fill up that's the trouble!

I long for the day every computer runs on high capacity SSDs & most of the BS will be sorted out. The technology is getting there but some SSDs still have a habit of bricking & cost/capacity ratio is too much at the moment. Imagine all the crap you could cart round with a 10TB SSD on a laptop. :buttrock:

App writers are already lazy with resources, they will get lazier and offset SSD speed don't worry, especially the ones that write the crappy software :bangcomputer:

Seriously though I'd love an SSD or 2, planning on running my 2x500GB array into the ground then buying some SSDs to replace it. Not sure if I'll RAID-0 SSDs though.

Can't help myself with threads like this lol

Glad you sorted the problem with IE. That CCleaner from Piriform is a great little tool :)

Macs are sh*t. I have one only because it's free and even the mrs doesn't use it. My PC is twice as powerful for the same price and has all the same apps (Office, Adobe Creative Suite etc).

Also, SSDs are awesome. Every time I get a box of the new ones, they're sold the same week. 500MB/s read/write speeds. Crazy.

A lot of the major developers are heading in the right direction, everything moving to x64 with multi threading technology.

I run SSD just for the OS on the CAD computer I use. It has 2 x 10,000rpm drives in RAID 0 for data & i7-990x 3.46GHz processor which can apparently be oc'd to about 4.5. It's good being able to click & not have to go off & make a coffe while you wait for something to happen.

The thing I like about Mac laptops is they are made of aluminium not plastic. You could probably use it for a weapon... :innocent:

...but even then there's plenty of laptops on the market made with alloy frames etc.

Seriously Steve, RAID 0 on SSD drives? Just because they aren't quite fast enough?
