Geez I was very tempted to buy one of these and decided to wait for the update, they have lost me now. It seems they are a great car but if you get a problem you are faced with FPV who don't give a toss and then you have to find a Ford workshop that actually knows how to fix anything beyond changing spark plugs. Just a damn shame. I would be seeking a replacement under the lemon law thing. Oh and I would yell and scream very loudly, they squeaky hinge gets the oil. I feel for you mate. I gave Ford my R SPec 8 times over a 2 year period to fix a click in the front LH side and a boot leak, still clicks and still leaks. Love their cars but I would never buy another one. All the best with it.

Simply not good enough.

This is the exact reason why I wouldn't buy new ever again - with a second hand car you can be more forgiving of problems and just accept as they arise due to the low $$ paid.....

But when new it is mind bendingly annoying, nearly enough to send people to the funny farm... :strecher:

Yes ford service does seem very ordinary.

And I to would be annoyed with the smallest problem.

But really listen to everyone, including the owner. The engine is gone ?????

From what I have read it's still in the car, it's still running, it's been looked at by people that may have more idea then most on here.

People on here are only guessing at what it could be but in realality even the most experienced mechanic could not locate the problem by the info given here. It needs a hands on evaluation.

Maybe just a simple lifter gallery that's been clogged by some small assembly goo or manufacturing offcut that was missed when cleaning on assembly.

And really on what we have read on here how does it differ from any other manufacturer.

I have seen many lambo's catch fire as well as heard plenty of bad things about cars that cost more then 3 times what the falcon does.

All of you saying that the i6 is better because it's a proven car, arnt we all forgetting how many problems it suffered, shutting down due to heat, rods breaking, turbos failing, diff bushes, f6 clutch, oil pump gears, oil leaks, coils etc eta eta.

It's got diff oil leak, pretty sure it's still exact same diff used in the f6 and probably same seal as used in BA taxi or earlier that probably is the part causing the leak.

In all until we find out what is exactly wrong with his car we can't speculate.

Also there is always 2 sides to every story.

For a car with a all alloy multi cam multi valve supercharged hi tec engine under $100g I still think it is a awesome buy and package.

Not to mention the quality of the engine design and materials used.

Name a better 4 door 5 seat car under $100g

Good luck cranny hope this is sorted very soon for you so you can get on with enjoying your car.

Hope Ford is following this thread and they start giving some answers to the service history problems many are providing.

Must of.

Probably feels bad about saying engines gone when it was probably something very minor.

If anything at all.

Come in cranny we want to know what was wrong.

If the car is stock, it is covered under warranty, and it sounds like a bent rod...they will replace short motor under warranty...if its bone stock then you have nothing to worry about.

My bro had his XR6T throw a rod and they gave him a whole new short motor...

The emphasis is "stock"...if its stock, then its just an inconvenience of not having your car for a few weeks until they fix it...

Ford usually needs to examine the engine to see how it failed, but like I said, if its stock then its just plain old engine failure...(usually caused by pinging)...and they will honour your warranty.

Boost69 not trying to be rude but How can you say it's a rod.

Have you inspected the engine in person?

Also the rods in the 5.0sc are not your every day run of the mill

Cast plastic i6 rods.

And the fact that it is stock is even more reason to doubt your theory of a rod issue.

Don't think any BA rods had even broke on stock untuned engine.

As well a supercharged engine doesn't put as much instant stress on the rods as what a turbo engine does.

As said earlier let's wait for cranny to tell us the verdict.

My theory is that there wasn't a problem at all as I'm quite sure we would of been informed by now of how this GT engine is gone.

Some advise to cranny would be to investigate things a bit better before making a statement that is far from the truth and being to embarrassed to own up and admit you where wrong about the engine being gone.

This is my theory and If I'm wrong on my theory tell me and I will apologize.

What really pisses me is that how many people have read this and decided not to buy a GT now because of the engine already gone in the GT as claimed by cranny.

As well the rumors that spread from it.

If there is a problem let us all know if it's all good or been sorted let everyone know.

And we are all waiting for the verdict.......
