My car was hitting a wall after 4k rpm and a couple of forum members sugested it may be a blocked cat. After going to my exhaust joint he said theonly way we could really tell is by putting a working cat on and seeing if it keeps happening. After getting quoted $1000 + taxes by fraud for a stock cat I looked around for one with no avail. Are there any companies that make a cat with the same cpsi (400?) as stock as I've got the T5 box so cant really mod high enough to justify the $$$ for a dyno tune

Thanks

Theres nothing much out there unfortunately, ring up Liverpool exhausts or similar joints plenty of their customers that get the stock cats cut out for a hiflow and dont wanna keep em.

Edit: you could also give Herman at Envy dyno a buzz since your on the northern beaches he may have one laying around.

I investigated a blocked cat 6 mths ago when my car drove a bit ordinary and lost 50% of its note - I assumed cat also from what people said. The guys I took it too simply said a heat test (front of cat) was all that was required - and said no, definately not cat. It turned out to be a collapsed rear muffler as I changed that and all good.

Only cost me $20 for the guys to check my cat for potential blockage? I got my new rear exhaust set-up elsewhere. So I would shop around......I was the same as you as I didn't want to spend $$ to tune either.
