Get out Nikon boy. There's no place for you here. :stirthepot:

Have to agree. MP's aren't everything. I've seen huge prints done with 6MP cameras that look amazing.

Get this... Under a grand. Lens will be fine for what you wanna shoot and you can always upgrade to a better lens later... Body is a decent body for the price. I have bought grey lenses from them... Amazing prices... :-) All warranties are covered by d-d-photographics in NSW.

Yeah, between them and DWI, you will find the best price... Everything I wanted to buy last time was cheaper on DL Electronics...

Keep in mind, an SLR wont make you an instant professional...

A decent point and shoot will take better pictures than an SLR in the hands of someone that doesnt know/care what they are doing...

How?

A good point and shoot is designed so that anyone can take good (sometimes great) pictures. Someone that doesnt know what they're doing with an SLR is more likely to use the wrong settings (or not even know they exist) when shooting thus giving poor pictures.

Someone that doesnt care, is also less likely to have a willingness to learn.
