Best Camera Between $500-$1000

Thinkin of buyin a new camera. Budget between $500-$1000

Will be mostly to take pics of stainless balustrade and architectural staircases I've installed to be uploaded to my website. It will also come along on any cruise/events.

Lookin at Canon DSLR 350D. Any thoughts?

350D's are getting a bit long in the tooth now.

I'd look at a 450D minimum. They came with auto ISO which will make life a lot easier for you.

Is a DSLR a priority or would a decent P&S do the job?

if you dont want to go SLR and with that budget I probably wouldnt, check out the upper end of the canon powershot range like the g12. esp if youve got a thing for canon (as I do), I have the 450d its great but you wanna have some decent coin left over for some good lens's

If you can extend the budget a little you'll get into a new 1100D.

If you brought it grey import you'd save a fair bit, but that's a decision you've got to make for yourself.

If you are going that far down the DSLR list you might as well get a P&S. I guess it depends what you want to do with it, but I would hate to be cropping photos with 12MP's.

Take a look at te new Nikon range of entry/mid range DSLR... or go and get one of the order series in the mid/high end on discount/run out... :thumbsup:
