I just don't want new guys to start blowing their engines up cause a few guys have run the gauntlet and got away with it that's all.

Blueboost did 600rwkw through a C4 or Powerglide & completed many passes at the drags on a stock BA motor. Can be done, just not recommended for longevity

Anyone who read my above comment 3/4 through & then raced to the nearest tuning shop to squeeze 600rwkw out of their T5 equipped BA deserves to lose their engine.

Nothing was mentioned about it being a good idea or safe option, it was more a rebuttal to the comment about "550hp isn't doable through a BA engine".

absolutely its all in the tune. if an injector blocks up at wot, 700whp its enough to break any motor. worst part in the ba motor imo is the oil pump. and in the new ones its the ONLY weak link.

dave then went on to ventilate that block at the track. but it put up a hell of a fight.

Keeping in mind that was his test mule and got driven incredibly hard, Also that car only ever saw the dyno once from memeory for tuning as those were the early days when dave started out. Mines bf series 1 also. Standard internals, not even valve springs. 362rwkw at 18psi. Tuned by dave also. But there are ba mk 1 making more power than mine and have been running around for over 2 years, tuned by dave also. Tuning and correct mods play a larde role in engine longevity, surge tank is a big one, to prevent the momentary lean out event on that day when you finally get a chance to race that wanker in the Late model camira you've been trying to get beside for ages haha. But seriously, The Ba itself is a little more risky as the Knock detection isnt of the same standard as BF and usually has to be toned down when the car is tuned, The potential effects of this are self explainatory, For testing with my BF we did to runs back to back with and without knock retard, with dave having his head in the engine bay, listening. Dropped 1rwkw when leaving the knock retard on, and that could mainly be put down to heat soak with the runs one after the other. Either way you would agree the potential gains/ if there were any are irrelevant. But yes in your case a more consersvative approach would be necessary, Get in touch with dave, honeslty ive seen daves list of tunes and happy customers, you would be hard pressed to find someone who knows more, and hes a top bloke and will teach you anything you want to learn.

its all in the tune guys...... eventually mine will pop, but then ill put an fg f6 block in. if you cant afford a new motor, you cant afford to push a ba block....

Mic - you listed BF mate! But you say you have BA? I'm confused....!

Slash - that's exactly what I was trying to say - huge power is easy, reliable huge power is not if you actually read what I wrote!!!! :beerchug:
