no engine is "self balanced" some configurations are more natually balanced than others. Get it balanced and blue printed, you'l have an engine that will rev faster and smoother, will last long and make more power.

Balancing is what it sounds like, pistons are all made to weigh the same, as are the rods. Crank should be dynamically balanced with the flex plate installed

Blue printing is basically measuring all the components and clearances to ensure they are exact for the application and adjusting as required, Again done propely it will give you and engine that wants to make power and will last

Yes but if you buy rods and pistons combo they will be same weight and standard crank will be automatically balanced and because it is a inline 6 even with the heavier than standard rods there is no need for balancing engine As the firing order will balance the engine unlike v6 which will need balancing with heavier rods So why is this guy charging for balancing??

okay don't balance it. All rods will not weigh exactly the same.Yes an Inline Six has better balance than a V6 but that like saying one bullet wound is better than 2.

These sixes are notorious for harmonic vibrations (anybody remember the ba f6 clutch debarcle) any unbalance in the rotating assembly with exaggerate any harmonic balance and you may have issues.

My Built engine is fully balanced and the willingness to rev compared to a stock engine is night any day.

at the end of the day its the OP call. But for my money I would balance any rebuilt engine especially one that's expected to produce 450rwkw (and has had a drink..???) Ask anybody who has had there engine properly balanced about how much smoother they are.

I would not use scat rods as I have seen many issues with small end alignment and to rebush the small end = buy the better rod straight up( was sent 3 different sets once and none of them were rite )+ and most scats dont even come with ARP 2000 rod blots - just my 2 cents though - it has to be balanced due to different rod and piston weight to std - check out atomic rebuild kits - rod and piston combo can have a huge affect on your balance cost,if you have to put heavy metal in the crank it can get very expensive

Okay so looks like its nailed down to

Malha pistons, percision rods, billet oil pump gears, race ballencer, girdle plate and arp head studs. Now hoping to push 500rwkw on pump 98 with a gtx42 turbo. Anyone see any problems or things I should include in engine? Engine will be balenced etc. Now my engine builded says he think I dont need a girdle plate as they have one from fctory??

What Girdle ask him, the thin flimsy baffle plate or the sump that is held on by 10mm bolts?
