Yeah its fun putting your foot down and going sideways but Im really over it.Whats a good 17 inch tyre that will have good grip? I dont care about what they are like in the rain because the car doesnt driven in rain.I dont want to go spend $300 a tyre, but I dont expect them to be dirt cheap either.Thoughts/options?Cheers

They were $250 a tyre balanced with wheel alignment. Tread wear rating is 160 I think so they are grippy (pick rocks up from the get go!) but I only have 330rwkw's and still use the 4sp box.I am very happy with them in the wet also but dont hoon in the wet much anyway. It's night and day going from a normal performance tyre (240 wear rating) to something this grippy as you can actually drive the car and not drift! You may sacrifice some mileage but grip is well worth it. I am well over 15000km's now on mine with still heaps of grip left.I will be buying them again as I am happy with them.

Grip like anything I've never experienced - but they don't last long. I paid $190 per corner 10 months ago but I think they are more expensive nowadays if you can get them. I think there will be a 2nd generation available soon - aibort reckons the 1st generation have been sold out for a while now.

Posted 18/06/11 12:31 PM Share Posted 18/06/11 12:31 PM (edited) you might aswell stick with wanli's or austyre. lolseriously, your not gonna get a normal street tyre that will give you grip especially with the amount of power your making.I've been down that path and with the advice of a few tyre fitters have tried (toyo T1r, rir's, kumhos and cant remember the others) thinking they would hold but I was wrong so I thought, fark this went and bought a pair of Mt's and havent looked back.I now drive with r1r's on the rear and chuck the MT's on when I go cruising.the joys of owning a high powered T. These things just leave lines down the road when you get into it with the caltracks pushing the rubber into the road and without wheel spin up to/around 480rwks in a higher gear good up to 540rwks on warm rubber and excellent road surface. Found 30psi cold they like the best with my setup.

Posted 18/06/11 10:57 PM Share Posted 18/06/11 10:57 PM Blowoff,I was told when purchasing a pair of R888's that they're mainly used for race/track applications and will not suit for everyday driving. I mean, if your gonna go to the extent of purchasing them then wouldnt sticking with Mt's be a better option as they grip better and are alot cheaper? I have found they have more grip than Mt's and have been running them for 8000kms for everyday get into it driving, LOL. This set have about another 3000kms left on them which is good considering that a fair bit of this has been with 600+rwks, if you know what I mean.... They are around 40% more $$ than the Mt's but for me it's all about getting it down to the ground. Also Mt's are not made in 20's. The Toyos make great sizes, runnning 315/20/20.
