I had a bf xr6t with a few mods in manual and loved it. I bought a brand spanking needy f6 early 2010, but was looking at a 6 month wait for the manual, so I got the auto. As autos go, it's not bad, though hasn't got a patch on a decent clutchless manual like my wife's golf gti with the dsg. I find it hard to fall in love with an auto, you just don't get the connection

Mightn't get the 'driving' connection I agree, but as Mist says above you don't lose boost so the autos are faster and much smoother to drive.

I would prefer a manual in most cars (had them all my life in fact), but didn't for the T.

Can't comment on the FG F6 comparison (only driven auto), but I would guess the same theory would apply - manual more fun, but slower in reality as a person simply can't shift as fast as a computer these days - each to their own I guess. :spoton:

I like the feeling of losing boost during my gear shifts :)

When I was in the market for a F6 l knew the auto was faster, but because of the type

and amount of driving I do,I didn't need or prefer an auto.

I'm fully content with the decision to have a manual. In my case,I would've

regretted buying an auto.

That's all that matters in the end, driving what ever you want to drive.

That's exactly what I was saying Timetaker, good on you as there is no right or wrong or better or worse. :spoton:

Purely personal preference and circumstances for some also (I struggle with manuals these days due to my left knee issues/pain, so my manual days are probably over whether I prefer them or not!!) :crybaby:
