I have begun to notice a power loss on boost at speeds normally above 80km at high rev ranges. The car is now boosting from the stock 5PSI to 10-11PSI. However when it hits this boost level at speed the car seems to lose all power from that point and will not accelerate any further (it feels as though the rev limiter is coming on too soon). Otherwise the car drives normally under normal driving.I have taken the car to Ford to have the problem diagnosed - the mechanic took the car for a drive and has apparently never come across the problem before. He then checked the car and diagnosed several faults saying that all could be caused by the following/preceeding fault that was listed. One major fault code that came up was 1677 - Wastegate fault (over- pressure). The mechanic went on to say that the actual problem could be difficult to locate and suggested I provide a limit on the amount I wanted to spend to get the problem repaired - he gave no indication on what the problem could be. Any ideas on what the problem may be, before I spend money replacing things that COULD be the cause.Cheers

Could be as simple as the boost pressure hose missing from the actuator to a jammed actuator (unlikely) as Tab sad get it checked out by somebody who isnt going to throw darts to diagnose the fault

XR6TD Member 6 Member For: 13y 7m 22d Posted 13/06/11 10:38 PM Author Share Posted 13/06/11 10:38 PM I have read a bit of info on here about possible causes and will try a few fixes myself however if the problem persists I will have to get it repaired by a mechanic. I am in cairns so it may be a little difficult finding a decent mechanic/tuner to look at it for me. Any suggestions in or around Cairns guys. I pull over and turn the car off and turn it back on again and its fine. Any thoughts?
