Hey guys ive just bought an xr6 turbo ute and the clearances are HUGE to say the least, I know its good for high boost levels but at 20psi I just dont need that bigger clearance.....

the pistons are noisy as fek! its almost unbareable, Nizpro said last friday theyd never heard one that loud!

its got all the good bits like billet rods blah blah blah so im looking at buying new pistons and getting them put in to shut it up abit.

can anyone give me a rough price from experience on what itd be worth to have the motor pulled out and have new pistons put in? (not including the price of the pistons).

just tossing up between fg f6 bottom end and rebuilding this one as its got good rods already! (by the way the car makes 326kw @ 20psi through a 2speed glide with 3000rpm convertor.

any help would be awesome!

What oil is in it? @ that power level I would live with the noise, You will never make and engine silent with forged piston. You might make it better but It will never be as quiet as stock.

That seems like a lot of boost for bugger all power. At the boost level that is. Whats the full details of the engine modding?

The clearances are probably bigger than what they run these days, hence why nizpro, atomic engines are alot quiter, I know of one atomic 698 engine and its pretty silent apart from intial start up when cold.

I thought it should of made alot more power to! even with the convertor and 2 speed I was still hoping for high 300's at that boost!

Nizpro said its basically like having 360ish rwkw after the convertor robs it but even still I thought itd make more than 360!

Not 100% satisfied with the tune either, Idle is rough as and still runs fairly rich
