I have a friend who has just bought an XR6 N/A sedan.....

When she went to the dealer, she basically found what she was looking for but it didnt have leather interior so they said they would give her a leather interior as part of the deal.

I suspect that they are going to swap over the interior from another car.....so it got me wondering....

Just what is involved in changing out one interior for another?....is just the seats?....door trims?.....or more stuff as well?

When I bought the Phoon I insisted on leather as part of the deal.

Dealer used an after market trimmer to install custom leather complete with FPV badging.

Bolsters and arm rests were done in suede. Stiching was all done in a matching blue to Neo.

All far better quality than the stock FPV leather as Rancidpnx who detalied my car will attest to.

Overall I understand it was about $2000 all told,Pretty happy how it has stood up, worth doing IMO

Buffys interior is pretty good, better than a stock FG. Factory Leather is usually crap. The fit and finish on the FGs is better and the quality looks better, but looks can be deceiving.

My thoughts would be that the dealer uses an external trimmer to recover the existing seats.

dealer will be getting it retrimmed, they wont swap the interior's from another car.

I had my car fitted with leather as part of my deal when I bought her...

fantastic job and the leather is of much better quality than the std factory leather...

the dealer actually told me that they get all their FPV stock cars as cloth and then retrim them in aftermarket leather as the factory leather is so sh*t...

Where did all these magical bend over backwards to help dealers all of a sudden come from? How much extra is it costing?

LOL I know. First Fords customer care starts returning phone calls. And then the dealers even tell nice lies instead of just being grumpy.

I guess they do get hungry when their being out sold 3 to 1 every month by their nearest competitor. Even when they have had the better product all along.
