At 380rwkw the box is living a limited life no matter what suitable fluid is used in my opinion.

I had a local tranny specialist do my service...used atlantic oils with a high recommendation... but now it seems to have a whine on cold (sounds like the oil pump to me)... changes are a bit hesitant on cold but seems to be ok when hot... it also thumps from 5th to 6th on low revs,.. very interesting. I was disappointe at not using the genuine ZF oil.. was only 50 or so bucks dearer.I got my BF ZF serviced by my local transmission shop recently. The owner tells me that you can now get aftermarket ZF oil which is the exact spec to the genuine stuff. The service cost me $470 approx including steel pan. Anyone else heard about this oil?Went back to my gearbox shop after not being happy with the oil he put in. Turns out it was the Atlantic oil and he also highly recommended the oil. My car is doing the same as mentioned above, no good when its coild but ok when hot. Changes back down to second gear under load are very snappy at any temp and 5th and 6th seem to flare more so when cold. I mentioned the Gulf Western stuff to him and he said he wasnt a fan....Im going back to the Genuine ZF oil.

Its friggin expensive from Ford I wouldn't get it from there. Edited 16/01/12 03:35 AM by 1600dave
