Hey there, I have been noticing a metallic clicking sound when releasing the clutch so I finally decided to get it checked out today. The news? Apparently I need a new tail shaft fitted and this is gonna take about a month because they need to get a balancer in? to make sure its fitted correctly and stuff :( Well I'm happy that I checked out on warranty but pissed because it looks like my new years road trip to Byron Bay may not happen now.

If you've got a clicking sound TAKE IT BACK!! infact if anything isn't right take it back, don't wait till your next service.

Sounds dodgy to me. I broke my drive shaft and had it replaced under warranty about 8 days later. Would have been done sooner (they had the parts), but they had to get someone from Ford to have a look.

Your problem actually sounds a lot like a different problem that I had. Clunking often when taking foot off clutch, particularly bad when moving from stationary in either 1st or reverse. This was the bolt on the diff coming loose and took all of about 30 mins for them to diagnose and fix.

Have you thought of going to a different dealer to see if they can fix it sooner?

Mine makes a cyclic 'swooshing' sound from underneath when I'm trolling at car park speeds. Thought it may be the center bearing ... anyone else heard of this one?

I'm with Falchoon on this one - sounds like your brakes. Mine do that, even after the shudder issue was 'fixed'.

Thanks guys, I am considering going to another dealer as driving it tonight and last night the problem seems heaps worse  I think maybe they had a bit of a poke and a fiddle, too much of a coincidence for it become so much noticably different. I'm not sure I really want to drive it anywhere for fare of buggering up the parts its hooked up to (engine/gearbox/diff)???. I can hear the clicking when changing into 2nd and 3rd now when it was just 1st reverse and sometimes 2nd. And that's when the engine is louder too!

I dunno if im imagining the drive to be worse, but it 'feels' like there is less traction when taking corners, could be my imagination though.

The service guy said he hadn't heard of anyone elses making the noise too.
