Hi all,

I’m heading down to the drags soon, to see what the F6 can do?

I’ve never drag raced a manual before, so do you guys have any tips?

What times would you expect? Mods are Xforce exhaust and tune, 330kw ATW.

Looking forward to your comments.

Cheers.

Hi micksta

Just wanted to say good luck my guess would be around low to mid 12's maybe even a high 11 ( with the right rubber) don't have any advise for you about the manual as I drive an auto but what I will say is just enjoy yourself

In a manual anywhere from high 11- high 14 is a good chance :beerchug:

Try hold the revs around 3300 (Vary and see what works for you)

Hold the car on the spot with the handbrake.

When you launch, try to slip/ride the clutch till your moving then let it out the rest of the way.

Its a mixture of slipping clutch and easing handbrake off to get a clean launch. Just take your time.

330rwk with a manual.....Id be guessing low 12's without too much fuss....

Drop the rear tyres to about 25-30 psi, fronts 40+.....with the traction control turned OFF....into the waterbox and do burnout in second gear to get some wheel speed up so you dont collect water in the treads and have it dripping out from the grooves on the startline.....

Launch RPM will vary depending on your mods and tune but as a starting point, try dialing up around 3 grand or so and go from there.

Stock F6 clutches aren't too bad but they don't like being just "side-stepped" off the line (neither do your C/V's)......initially, try "walking" the car off the startline rather than just dropping it and feed it the power as it can use it.....it's really no different to making a fast getaway from the lights only your gonna' be using more RPM than you would on the street....

From there on it's really a matter of finding the "sweet spot" in your powerband and hitting the shift points at just the right point without hitting the limiter(usually between 5-500rpm mark)....again, this may vary with your tune and mods....make every shift a "positive" one, especially second to third ( it's easy to miss)...

You'll have bundles of fun trying different techniques of launch and shift points to find what's best for you and the car.... :3gears:

Come back to us and let us know how she went ok..... :beerchug:

Thanks guys.

I forgot to mention it’s an FG, so there’s the launch control to consider.

With changing from 1st to second gear, should I change earlier? With this much power and stock tyres, the car brakes traction in 3rd gear and sometimes 4th.

The F6 also has the gear change indicator chime, so should I change gears imedently after the chime, or will the car over rev the rev limiter for that spilt second? I remember hearing something about this when they launched the car.

You want to shift a little earlier in first, what it says on the dash, doesnt realate to what is actually happening as the tacho cant keep up...

I guess you're going to Eastern Creek.

Last time I went it was cold as, car felt great but no traction. Track was cold, and it wasn't prepared well at all. I went few times before and never had traction issues, but this time I felt like there was less traction than on the street. A friend went few weeks ago and sounds like it was pretty sh*t then too.

So I'd suggest launching it similar to what you do on the street (or a lttle harder) and go from there. If it grabs, next time go harder.
