I'd probably look at the lifters as well, has happened to me before on a new motor.

He's started another thread, turned it over and there was zero compression cylinder 6.

I would have thought the average mechanic would start here if compression returned after removing the cams? :pleasantry:

Dont stress youll still get the same outcome, and once its all going, youll forget about everything youve gone through.

+1 for lifters, when I changed the valve springs in my old BA we took the lifters right out, needless to say it wouldn't run until they bled up properly, started to run on 3 then 4 then 5 until finally all 6
