So I tested it first by opening the boot and jumping in the car and turned it up - sure enough, a lot less distortion, so I figured it must be fact.pulled the plug apart and swapped the connectors and it now sounds pretty good for a factory system.It used to distort around the 25-28 mark (volume level) but now I can almost top it out at 33 with minimal distortion.
