I thought I would share the great news that I have just ordered the wife a new car (or truck). After some extensive searching, we have decided on a new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with the new Diesel motor.

Ordered on Friday and delivery expected by end of July. The car is a great value for money in the sub $80k market. Based on the new 2012 ML Merc floorpan, it ticked all the boxes. The only other car I really considered was the new Territory, but all the tech in the Jeep made up my mind.

:roflmbo: 'Wouldnt even look at a Jeep Dags, got lots of mates that have had nothing but trouble with them'...

They are a nice bit of kit, I would be in one if it fitted in my garage. :msm:

Since Fiat has taken over and they got several ex Merc people the quality of the car has increased significantly.

I have read a heap of reviews and forums and there is not a great deal of quality problems with them.

Another convert to diesel power, looks to be a bit better than jeeps of past. I thought I might be a bit disappointed with the power of my first new diesel after driving turbo sixes. I was wrong, standard 650nm + chip = 800nm so far and soon to be new exhaust for a bit more. Looks to have a lot of good stuff built in at a low price compared to other vehicles in the same class.Hope to read your review of the new rig after you have it for a while. Read some of the reviews of the new diesel motor and they seem to get a pretty good rap.
