Cruise Control - A Tip Direct From Ford.

Hey guys,

So I got off the phone to one of the Ford reps last night as he called me in regards to a quality questionnaire I answered not long after I purchased my car.

This rep had a very good knowledge of the car and I am quite impressed and thankful that Ford took the time (after hours) to give me a ring out of the blue.

To cut a long story short, after we went through some quality issues and warranty verification, I mentioned that recently I thought there might be an electrical fault with the cruise and the computer. I found that occasionally if I tuned the cruise on (back of the steering wheel), it would flash intermittently and I wasn't able to set or turn on/off my cruise. At this point I tried pulling out my phone to film the fault as I pulled to the side of the road and it stopped!! This happened several times until I realised that breaking stopped the problem and cruise was back to normal.

The rep explained that there is no issue and it has also tricked him before but he has been reassured that it is part of the calibration start-up.

I won't place any bets, but by rights all FG owners (not sure if its just the Xr50's) should find the same if you don't believe me. Just turn on the cruise without touching the break.

I just wanted to post this in case someone else finds the same problem.

Happed here and thought it had something to do with the brakes which looks like it does with refering to the above

Vehicle needs to know that it is receiving brake pedal switch signal,before it will allow cruise operation. Catches a few people out but doesnt happen often,as most people have pushed the brakes a few times on a drive before getting on a straight stretch to operate cruise.
