Exactly Wingnut, everytime someone mentions are car that isn't a Ford here, people seem to go out of their way to mention how sh*t it is... 10-15 year old M3's and S4's are still better built and are nicer to drive than my fg t.

oh don't get me wrong, I don't dislike BMWs or other brands because they aren't a Ford - far from it. This was my first and probably last Ford for a while anyway.

I was simply saying how BMW used to build cars that would last forever and now they don't because the market has changed.

In the 80's through to the late 90's BMW made probably the best cars IMHO, as Audi hadn't peaked then and Merc was in the middle of its Daimler-Chrysler fiasco.

In fact, my all time favourite car would be a later E30 M3 or perhaps an E21 Alpina 2.8.

I've noticed the misguided belief on here that our cars are all that and a bit. It's ridiculous but experience can't be taught.

I got flamed on here for mentioning how much quicker in all condition my modified Mazda 3 was than my F6. I may as well have just said I rode a horse.

The cars we have are ok. But so far away from quality cars like the new 5 series, the CLS amg (wow!)

Our cars have more problems than any of these cars but peope refuse to see them or choose to accept things like diff clunks, crap stereos etc

People want to pick on the other cars as it makes the local car seem just that bit less of a rip off.

I agree that the euro cars of today are not like before. But I don't need leather that will last 20 years. I struggle to keep cars for more than 3 years.

dre careful you know how people jumped down our throat about that mazda 3 issue. if people are really trying to compare a ford falcon over a bmw m5, you really have got to look at yourself. bmw just don't dump a engine in a car and hope to god it's any good. like ford did with the 5.0 supercharged, the amount of r@d even in there sh*tty 1 series would make ford big knobs cry in shame.

:stupid:

The main thing going with Fords is once given a bit of a tune & mods the sraight line speed is good value for money compared to what else we get over here. They definitely need a huge boost in build quality, R&D & NVH before they can compare with a Euro. Cars in general over here are a ripoff anyway. Makes you green to see what they pay for a new car in the USA, especially given our dollar is worth more than theirs. A Nissan GTR is about $90k, C63 AMG or BMW M3 about $60-$75K depending on options.

Back on topic though - I wonder how the M5 will compare to the new M3 coming out. There's more rumours than truth at the moment but it's meant to be pretty special.

I'm holding out for the next C63 update. They have started to put the twin turbo engine in the E63, can't be too far away.

Now that will be a fun car. Not as much class as the M5 though.
