Having some problems with Mazda waranty at the moment, car is 2008 model Mazda 3 and has a 4 year warranty. Won't go into too many details at this stage but they are saying a new motor is 12k. Seems a bit much to me. Wondering if anyone has had one of these replaced before. From what I can see so far Mazda mechanics are a bunch of retards and not that I would but my wife will never buy from them again. Cheers

12k - WTF. Anyway, warranty mate - don't let them f*ck with you. Threaten them with the ACCC if you believe you're covered. If not covered, mate I'd rebuild it unless it has a hole in the block or something. What are we talking here - cracked head, bent rods, what? That or drop in an import if you're going to flick it.

Whats the actual issue with the engine itself ? How did it happen ? Not good when companies defer on warranty situations, sorry to hear

In the rare event that you need mazda parts they are REALLY expensive. find the right dealer and go for warranty. Some don't mind, some play stupid.

I had a new turbo under warranty and a new gearbox (turbo 2500, gearbox fitted 7500)

-the car was very modified but I still managed to get it under warranty.

Wife Went to rocky in it the other week, got into town and engine light came on and idled rough, got racq to have a look and he reckoned misfire and was right to drive, towed it home anyway. Old man has built and destroyed more than his fair share over the years and he reckons bent valve. They asked wife if she had driven thru water recently and she said she had, creek 6 inches deep and 2 meters across so they won't even pull it apart for a look Mazda australia is telling them not to and it is water damage, therefore no warranty. Water was driven through 3 days before light came on and first thing I checked was the oil and there is no signs of water in oil. Insurance is goin for a look tomorrow and I'm guessing they are goin to say water damage too. You could buy a pretty mad xr6 short motor for 12k and chev crate engines are pretty cheap too. If the insurance says water damage will either take it to my engine builder for a second opinion or fix it ourselves. I can see this dragging out and costing more than it should. That and the service manager not liking me anymore. I think they are goin to play stupid so I might have to play annoying customer person back.
