Hey Guys!

It's been a while! I recently picked up a brand new G6ET and installed a HID kit. It worked perfectly for 3 months and during the week the drivers side stopped working. Did a bit of troubleshooting, replaced the globes, wiring and turns out it was a ballast problem. I replaced it and it worked fine until the next day the replacement ballast blew out. I have been through 3 ballasts now and while driving yesterday the dash popped up with 'headlight fault' There is no issue with the passenger side and the fuses are still in tact. I have gone back to standard halogen globes today, no problem as yet.

Any ideas?

It's good to be back :spoton:

Did it blow the fuse first ??? Or are they Chinese cheap ones off Ebay.

I went through a few on my bike. Turns out they don't like any sort of moisture. Even high humidity stuffs them. The ballasts that is.

Im assuming that most kits are the same and think that you have a bad earth on the drivers side. The ballast creates an extremly high voltage when starting and a bad earth will damage or blow your ballast. The kits that we sell clearly explain this in the instructions.

Ok this has happenend to me on my cars except my dads merc. Ive used the same hid kit, all same brand ballasts and globes.

With my FG F6 I noticed on auto lights they would blow when I start my car.

To fix it you need a time delay kit for hid's. About $40.

If using them on manual mode they don't blow unless you start your engine while the lights are on.

Most german cars have a built in delay feature.

Hope that helps

Thanks for be replies guys. I will go and buy a set of time delay\canceling capacitors and get a new HID kit, will report back with results.
