Ok guys

Had the bf xr6 turbo for nearly 3 weeks ( loving it by the way ) but I have noticed after about a 15-20 minute drive, When you lift the bonnet the engine bay soooooo hot. I have a ba xt and it doesn't even get half as hot. Now I know the turbo does get hotter but is it meant to be ALOT hotter? I have installed a 82 degree thermo but thinking of getting the 71 one now.

Also what eles will keep the temp down? Is there where better oils come into play as well? :dontknow:

Coolant has also been drained and new coolant in.

The temp gauge gets to just under the half way point then drops to about 1/4 once both fans kick in or on the free way.

But yeh under the bonnet its just so hot O.o

Ratter: How do you get the fan settings changed?

Just watch the temp gauge on the dash and make sure it's doesnt go over half with normal driving and you will be right.

If you want to improve the engine bay temp ensure your radiator's fins arent blocked and grills arent covered with a massive number plate, air filter is clean and unblocked, Exhaust system flowing well, Fan's are kicking in at the right speeds and temp's, not sure what else will making the engine bay hot, Heat sheilds on the turbo and exhaust manifold,,,, etc

Really if some of these are happening your engine coolant temp on your gauge would be reading higher.

Fan cut in/out setting are changed as part of a tune.

They all get hot under the bonnet, The turbo and shielding retain alot of heat.

Get into the habit of popping the bonnet and leaving it open when you park it overnight (if you have an enclosed garage)

Jimmy and Hiddeous are correct, it's done in the tune.

Without doing the fans, the temp, when at lower speeds or idling, will continue to rise until the fans kick in.
