You can't beat the way it holds boost through the gears & you can hold each gear to redline & it won't change gears till you do and when you have enough power it is matched perfectly with the 4L. I remember when James (R-SPEC) had his old manual BF F6 n had 370rwkw & I had 310rwkw in my F6, his was manual and mine was auto, even from the roll I would pull a car length on him within 1 gear, needless to say, James now has an FG F6 with the ZF lolI read that real men drive manuals yet you're still driving a 6 cylinder haha if you were getting a V8 I would say manual all the way but turbos are matched so well with autos & as the ZF is such a good all rounder why would you want a clunky, slow, diff breaking, tailhappy manual when you could be driving one of the best auto ever put in an aus car matched with such a great motor LOL But it honestly comes down to self opinion, just like how some people dig fat chicks lol
R-SPEC You are a dead set goose Silver Donating Members 3,968 Member For: 19y 2m 19d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 09/05/11 11:36 PM Share Posted 09/05/11 11:36 PM lol My manual Rspec F6 only had 370rwkw and it blew a diff, countless bushes and went through tyres like nothing else. In the end it sounded like a taxi with it's whining bulletproof diff. It was so much fun skating up the road to over 100kph but at the end of the day I do 100+k's a day with my job, so a manual turned into a nightmare and I regretted it. They're clunky, noisy, and as H said, I was getting beaten by ZF's with much less power which gets annoying after a while; you're in wheel spin while they're 50m ahead of you You learn how to use throttle control pretty quickly when you have good power. It's personal preference, but having had both within the last 2 years I'd get an auto again for sure. You can drive it normally in D, or sharpen up the gear changes in performance mode (ridiculously quick) or choose your gears with the sequential mode and hold whatever gear you want. The only thing that lets cornering down is the converter, if you're 1/2 way through a corner in 2nd and you plant it, the converter and turbo lag make for some interesting over steer. We all know auto will b quicker in a straight line, however I have been neck n neck with auto cars with 20rwkw more, at speeds from 30- about

The manual was 0.somthingofasecond faster but after a few laps the zf overheated & had to stop for a rest. The auto was slightly quicker in the drag race & a lot more consistant, being easier to launch. In 2 weeks, when the zf tuning comes out, the auto will win hands down. The shifts are smoother and the box is not as clunky. However because it is a tighter shifting box it can be notchy and sometimes grind when changing to 2nd when really cold. I did some research on it and that is what I learnt anyway. cheers

I currently have the zf and love it. It can hold boost through gears (as stated many times) performance mode is very smart, you are never in the wrong gear and it will hold any gear. However there are a few reasons im converting to manual. -After 2 years with the zf im bored of it. I miss driving. It also doesn't hold as much power as a manual would and I plan to build in the future.-The fact that it shifts down for you even in manual mode sh*ts me to tears. I sometimes get caught out around a corner when the steering wheel is in the way of the gear display and I dont know what gear its in. -The shifts are so dam slow. If you are turning into the corner and you knock it down 2 gears there is a massive 1-2 sec delay.I know that tuning it will stop the automatic down shifts and it may also allow the box to skip gears when shifting fast (nothing has been confirmed). But I just cant wait 2 weeks
