A jury. 12 ordinary Victorians.

12 people not smart enough to get out of Jury service.

:P

What is the actual story? Did she get off all the charges completely? I would have thought she'd have got fined for the illegal u-turn at least. It's unusual for someone to cause death while doing something illegal & get completely away with it.

If the u-turn was illegal how did she get off?

If the u-turn wasn't illegal who was the douche who charged her?

I'm glad I don't live in Victoria the police force there is in a mess. The comissioner has sacked his deputy, the police minister has refused to say he has confidence in the comissioner & the government has ordered a review into senior police command.

...just fanning the flames :stirthepot:

Nice to see some common sense prevailing in this thread. Without access to the full facts, judgement from a keyboard is as senseless as trying to decipher what really happened with Bin Laden from the media available on the subject. That being said, some punishment would seem fitting, at least the loss of her licence. But that's for the court to decide. Don't forget people, quiet often in the justice system, it's the Police versus the courts. The courts work against the Police believe me.

Hmmmm, good debate...

I think there are some very good points to be made.

being a police officer she's completed her 80 hours of advanced driving, so she should know better and should be prosecuted more so that a civilian. Which is appears she was, BUT she has obviously appealed and was let off by a jury of 12 civilian victorians.

now this tells me something, it's not the policing that is the problem, it's the public's misconception that the police are all mighty and shouldn't be challenged. The amount of bullsh*t propaganda that the government in association with the police put out to try and control the masses is seriously over welling. The only thing that separates the police from the rest of us is a 6 month course in Glen Waverley! I'm sorry, but a superhero that does not make.

We have an unfortunate lack of police in victoria and as a result they have seriously lowered their standards in who they allow in. I have a friend in NSW who's trying to get into the police and was told that her small tattoos on her forearms could prevent her from gaining entry, that's how strict that are, not so in Victoria.

The standard of people we allowed to uphold our laws (how ever ridiculous they may be) and to make instant life or death decisions should never be lowered.

that'll do me :buttonit:

Hi all

I had a meeting today with the Wilsons

The Ride for Luke is on date yet to be fixed

the Family has asked that tje DPP look closer at the case

The jury was pictured in a local paper at the accident scene also the pic was on the papers website.

The police attending the accident where called by the off duty officer at their home not via 000 they also worked with her at Sunbury Police station they also provide evidence in court.

They contaminated the accident scene this point is clear

there are far to many problems in this case
