Cro, that has got to be the worst advice you could give! No offence intended. Dealers will not discount the T a great deal if at all. Going around and pitting one against the other will only burn you. Dealers do talk to each other and if you haggle long enough they will all know about you and then you will definately not get a better price. The best approach is to go to the dealer where the salesman is most helpful and be honest if he is because there isn't that much money in new cars and at the end of the day they are there to earn a living just like the rest of us. Then you may have some buying power. Even the price of used is up T's getting over 90% at auctions in QLD Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/7466-bargaining-with-dealers/page/2/#findComment-64906 Share on other sites

I know of a big group in brisbane with 4 or 5 ford dealerships plus a few other brands. Therefore they are friendly and do talk to each other. When haggling just keep in mind that dealerships you are dealing with is not owned by the same group. I ended up dealing with a independant dealer and got a great deal on the ute.Give the country dealers a go. You will be surprised with the discount you can get with some of them, if they have one in stock. It had been delivered to the dealership 2 days prior and the dealership sales where down. The dealership, cleared the stock, got the sale and I got a good deal. The ulitmate result in negotiation - Win/Win.ALWAYS do the deal in the last week in the month you will consitantly get a better price. However be prepared to comitt because a genuine end of month deal won't last. Also I never cloud the deal with a tradein. They give you nothing and use the trade in to hide profit margin. To do do this you will need to be prepared and have done all your reseach before you walk through the dealership door. You'll also gian a slight edge if you do it the first time through the door. Welcome to the forum Hingston :banghead: l agree with your statement regarding trade ins, l never trade my cars in but sell privately. Its more rooting around but you are always better off, the money you save on a low trade in price can help to offset a few little extras :banghead: Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/7466-bargaining-with-dealers/page/2/#findComment-65050 Share on other sites

In NSW, Ford Mo Co own most of the dealerships by way of the Retail Joint Venture (RJV)An RJV dealer can get the car you want because the are owned by Ford.... but getting the price you want....A franchisee that has a Ford Franchise in addition ot a number of other franchises (Nissan, Hyundai etc) will always give a good deal because what they lose on the Ford they gain in the other brands! Guest spencerg Guests Posted 15/11/03 12:26 PM Share Posted 15/11/03 12:26 PM TurboDewd,Discount cars had $1k off XR6t and $3k off Xr8 if I recall correctly.I was quoted under $40k for a Turbo sedan with 18's, leather, sunroof, prestige paint and premium sound through a government lease deal about 4 weeks ago so maybe lease companies are the go to get a better up front price. Apparently I was quoted a great price but I have been waiting to hear more on:1) Resale values of the Turbo vs Xr 8 (for end of lease) 2) Reliability etc of the Turbo (after hearing the horror stories on the GEN III Expensive Daewoo Engine (my wife likes the SS so we investigated this car first)3) Release of the Series 2Does anybody have an opinion on lease terms, is it better to sell each year or go for three years? I would be hard pushed to do 25,000ks per year.Is the Series 2 still expected to arrive in Sept/Oct 2004? 'Ex Ford Executive Turbos' seem to be flooding the dealerships at the moment so I thought it may be earlier than this?A number of members seem to be selling their Turbos and buying GT's. Are the GT's that much better or is this a V8 preference or to do with potential resale value?Regards Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/7466-bargaining-with-dealers/page/2/#findComment-65094 Share on other sites

Yes each to there own and well done on getting great prices on those various items. But you may have also gotten those prices at the one dealer if you really wanted to. Out of curiosity, did you buy the car through a national fleet co? Because the dealer would have made $0 based on a discount of $6000.
