Do you think I'll have much luck haggling down the price of an XR6T? I live in Canberra and am prepared to wait for the right color/trim combo. Experiences anyone? What should I aim for?thanx

There was a guy in Canberra offering a similar service, he had a website something like www.myride.com.au but I can't think of it ATM. Alternatively, go to the Ford website and spec up a car with all the goodies you want at retail price and then go to a dealer and ask what deal he can do for you. Don't let them try and bluff you with the retail price making out he's doing you a "fantastic deal".Does your work buy any cars from Ford? Maybe you can schmooze up to your Fleet Manager if you work for a large company or Govt dept and try and get them to negotiate something for you.The end of the month is a good time to try and strike up a bargain as the sales people are keen to get their figures up.Try not to let your heart rule your head, it's easy to fall in love with the cars, especially after going for a test drive, and then you just have to have one and don't care how much it costs! They all know that they can sell a T at virtually full retail, because if you are not willing to pay full retail, chances are the next bloke that walks through the door is. There is no point saying you are willing to wait for the right colour/trim combo, id say you will be waiting a fair while anyway!Good luck. Id say you'll need it! Plus a button on the dash. You could do a lot with an XR8 with the cash. For instance three months ago, my local dealer had a XR8 that was (Mercury Silver) discounted 3.5K for people with a ABN.That wasn't just ecause it was a shytty colour.Of cause if the T devalued as baddly as that? Then the XR8 would not be immune - but if we were talking rational decisions we would all be driving Hyandais.
