04 model XR6 ute

Hope someone has had same issue, when travelling at about 80 to 100 I get a vibration that starts in front end and travels through car slowly all the way to back end like some sort of harmonic vibration

best way I can describe it is when you see a wet dog shaking the water off itself and it starts shaking its head then that goes through his body into his tail

had brakes machined in case warped disks also had wheel balance and swapped all wheels around in case it was a buckle in rim or something

Sounding like a common problem. And continues from way back to the FG. And not just on T's. Bones have been pointed everywhere on the cars as to the cause. With no one fix.

There making a mint out of rotor grinds that don't fix it. Or probably need doing in the first place. Just shortening the life of the rotors. I have no idea myself.

Not too many parts have been carried through to the FG. And it's not every car. Not even 1 in 10.

@ 80 to 100 it's under where the torque is coming on. JUST. it's not like you sit @ under 2 G in any other gear but fifth or top. Sorry just thinking aloud here. Just thinking more rpm than actual ground speed. But a mix of different rotations all happening at once. Dunno. Just thinking along the line of harmonics.lol sorry just saw that you wrote that about the vibration.

You might need to be more specific. What are you doing at the time of the vibration.

Are you accelerating, applying the brakes or coasting. What gear are you in? What RPM is the engine doing?

Is the problem intermittent or constant?

How many Kms has the car done? Have you ever serviced/replaced any suspension or brake components? Have you ever serviced the gearbox or diff.

Is it auto or manual? If manual how old is the clutch?

One more thing. :Welcome2FordXR6t:

I had the same problem with my car for a while and its caused by a couple of things. The first was the front inner wheel bearings which was hard to detect because they ford don't use tapered wheel bearings anymore so you can't just rock the wheel in and out to see if they are stuffed. I bought 2 new front hubs with the bearings installed from autobarn for around $185. The nut on the stub axle must be torqued to 325 nm. which is Fing tight!!! this fixes the straight line non braking wobble/vibe through the car. the second is to dump the factory front rotors and get some decent DBA replacements. The third is to adjust the clearance on the pin inside the brake booster. this is done by pulling the master cyl off and backing off the the end of the pin coming out of the brake booster. Ford have it set to close to the master cyl and this causes the brakes to drag a little causing high and low spots on any rotor you put under the car and over time the vibs come back.

Depending how long you have driven the car with the vibrations you may also need to replace the steering rod ends as the vibs make them wear quicker.

I did all of the above and the only thing that pisses me off now is the caliper rattle but the vibs have gone.
