Was wondering if anyone has tried anything like this......

A T3 rear housing could be used with an external waste gate and you get to keep the standard manifold? Giving you a few very good options as far as T3 rears go anyway

Just reading the forum and it looks like most ppl are sort of stuck with T4 .7ar front /standard rear or they go the whole hog with manifold and T4XXXR

How much can the stock fg manifold handle? My guess it would be enough for 80% of the punters

If anyone has any advice or comments I'm all ears

Been done in various incarnations by quite a few people. Problem is waste gate @ 90deg to gas flow like it is in your picture can reduce flow capacity by up to 50% (this figure comes from Turbosmart)

That was one of the queries I had but looking at some setups from reputable manifold builders I have noticed that most of the time the waste gate has this sort of orientation

This is a 6 boost rb26 manifold w.gate is at 90 deg

Not saying wont work, merely that its not the ideal setup. Search through Rap1d´s post and have a look at how he setup his ext on his factory turbo and then gt42

Any links to his threads?

Tochi have you got any details on who did the work? And if you have had any issues with it at all.

I don't see how your setup differs in theory to the 6 boost manifold, port location is only 30 mm up stream and on the other side of the flange.it has the same angle
