Marsh Member 9 Member For: 15y 12d Posted 03/05/11 12:06 PM Share Posted 03/05/11 12:06 PM Was wondering if anyone has tried anything like this......A T3 rear housing could be used with an external waste gate and you get to keep the standard manifold? Giving you a few very good options as far as T3 rears go anywayJust reading the forum and it looks like most ppl are sort of stuck with T4 .7ar front /standard rear or they go the whole hog with manifold and T4XXXRHow much can the stock fg manifold handle? My guess it would be enough for 80% of the punters If anyone has any advice or comments I'm all ears Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/74642-wastegate-on-the-turbine-housing/ Share on other sites

Problem is waste gate @ 90deg to gas flow like it is in your picture can reduce flow capacity by up to 50% (this figure comes from Turbosmart) Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/74642-wastegate-on-the-turbine-housing/#findComment-1102555 Share on other sites

Search through Rap1d´s post and have a look at how he setup his ext on his factory turbo and then gt42 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/74642-wastegate-on-the-turbine-housing/#findComment-1102575 Share on other sites

And if you have had any issues with it at all.I don't see how your setup differs in theory to the 6 boost manifold, port location is only 30 mm up stream and on the other side of the flange.it has the same angle Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/74642-wastegate-on-the-turbine-housing/#findComment-1102578 Share on other sites
