I LOVE the email/calendar/Outlook synchronisation. The Nokia N97 had an email app that was just rubbish in comparison. I now feel SO much more connected to the office when I'm not sitting at my desk.I think I've outgrown the whole custom ringtone thing - to the point where, when a guy in the office who is 25 I think has his phone ring and it's some crappy Aussie hip hop song or something, I think to myself "surely you're old enough now to be over that sort of thing??!!". FYI I'm not even 30 yet (2 weeks away) - funny how age changes us!The only downside to that is at the moment there are 2 iPhones in the house (me and the wife) so we have to make sure we have a different ring tone - and we're both partial to the good old fashion 'normal' phone ring.I'll admit I was definitely one that used to drink the Apple-flavoured Haterade but I'm starting to come around. Yes I hate the proprietary connection aspect of it, which was always one of my criticisms of it.Having said that I rarely use it as an iPod as the only time I really get to listen to music is at work (music is on my computer) or in the car where I have a 6 CD MP3 compatible stacker. So the connectivity isn't such a big deal for me.The camera on this thing is rubbish (2 megapixel and doesn't have a flash) but the iPhone 4 camera is way better and apparently we're looking at getting 8 megapixel ones in the iPhone 5 if/when it comes out.Apparently it is also going to feature A5 dual core processing (whatever the hell that ACTUALLY means!) that will allow full multitasking and improve speed etc. Oh and of course battery life as it is more efficient. Or something.

I HATE THAT! If the phone was not capable of some things, fair enough but don't disable things and tell me it's for my own good.

Android is open system. For that reason alone I would go Android. I use BB for work and it works well. We tried iPones out for work = hopeless, partinularly with Outlook sync. The missus has Galaxy S on Android. Works very well indeed. Very strong rumour that BB is switching to Android. Maybe there's a message there? Have many colleagues using HTC on Androiod and they are very happy with it.I think there are now more compelling reasons to not go iPhone. But try them all and make your own mind up. Other than either shelling out $1k for a phone, or getting one on a 2 year contract...(I've been thinking there needs to be a shop that lets you test drive phones! If there is one please let me know)

Why would you use outlook sync with the iphone when it has seamless ms exchange integration. The easies thing in the world to set up and use. As a few have pointed out I also think it comes down to thisIf you want something that just works and you dont have to stuff around with setting things up get iphoneIf you are more of a techno enthusiast who likes to customise everything get the android phone

It's the best thing about it in my eyes so far too
Guest XR09 Guests Posted 04/05/11 04:51 AM Share Posted 04/05/11 04:51 AM I have two HTC's. The Wildfire and the desire HD. The wildife was $279. the Desire was $700. Both Aus stock and unlocked. Well got them both for a grand with delivery. Freeken little wildfire is a beauty if your on a budget. It has been soaked all year in my pocket on the bike and never faulted. The desire is good as well. Much cleaner screen and heaps better camera. But the little wildfire just does it all. And at the price who cares if you wreck it. I go through a lot of phones.I just cant justify the extra price of the I4, even over the Desire.Nokia are shoite and their aftersales/warrenty service is utter disgusting. Worse than Fords. Stay away from them. They are not the phone company they use to be.
Guest newl Guests Posted 04/05/11 05:02 AM Share Posted 04/05/11 05:02 AM I've owned (still have it in a drawer somewhere) an iPhone 3G and currently own an Android based Samsung Galaxy S. I prefer either of those over a Nokia that I used for 8 months (bought outright).I made the switch from the fruit to the droid because the fruit company liked to tell me what I could and couldn't do with my device. I also had the positive experience of having already jail broken the device prior to switching to my Galaxy so I was able to obtain an application which permitted me to get my contacts off of the phone and onto the SIM. This may or may not still be a problem on the current fruit offering. With the Galaxy S, I have no such problems. Being a software engineer, I get the added bonus of being able to easily and freely develop for it.Smart phone functionality wise, my experience with the two is similar. They allow(ed) me email, web access and the ability to make and receive calls and messages (sans MMS on a stock iPhone 3G/Gs without jail breaking it) which they both do quite well. While we all can share our experiences and thoughts on both platforms, you're the only one that can make the right decision for you. I currently have a HTC Desire HD and you would need to pry it out of my cold dead hands to make me swap it for an iphone. To run down the worthwhile choices:Windows 7 is a phone for noobs that want a smartphone, but are not very smart. It is M$ version of an iphone, so it will do most things, but it is a very dumbed down phone that xbox owners love. My sales assistant had a Desire 7 HD and loves it as he plays games and has an xbox live account. This is about the only good feature I can see with it.iPhone is a good phone for the non business users, people who need to have it as a fasion accessory. They look good and will do most things, but are still 2 years behind a HTC on features. They also break easily. the record sofar is a client who had a i4 for 3 hours and dropped it. being glass fornt and back, they do not like being dropped. There is also some issues with bluetooth working with carkits, as apple does not comply with the BT standard. You cannot replace the batteries. If you get one jailbreak it.Android: This will be the main OS phoens run in the future. It is stable, fast and has all the apps an iphone has. Go to a phone store and testdrive the range. I would only look at a samsung or HTC brand, as the rest are still catching up on smartphone tech.Vodafone have a great deal $45 unlimited calls/text with a $5 per month for an HTC Desire HD.
