XAH03 Member 597 Member For: 17y 3m 28d Gender: Male Location: Cairns QLD Posted 03/05/11 07:56 AM Share Posted 03/05/11 07:56 AM 1:15 PM Tue 3 May, 2011Source: V8 Supercars AustraliaFOLLOWING last weekend’s Trading Post Perth Challenge, V8 Supercar Chief Executive Officer Martin Whitaker has reviewed regulations regarding post-race celebratory ‘burn-outs’.Whitaker, after consulting with V8 Supercar operations, said the winning driver will be able to perform a ‘burn-out’ in a specified area.“This is something the fans want and it is customary across many disciplines of the sport for a driver to display his exuberance in such a way,” Whitaker said.“Contrary to the way the issue was reported and interpreted at the Perth event, we actively encourage displays of emotion from winning drivers but we have to ensure they are performed in a safe and responsible manner.“From a wider perspective we then need to ensure it is not something we are encouraging people, particularly young people, to do outside of a racing environment.“This is a facet of the safety message that we encourage through the many school and community activities that our drivers undertake throughout the year.”The fact that the sport has now had 11 different winners from the last 15 races has been a great positive for the V8 Supercars Championship. Dyno comp is already a non-event.Next V8 SC will require all racecars to be hybrids to minimise their carbon footprint I wonder what other initiatives they will come up with the draw in the crowds? I think v8 supercars have gone backwards some what over the years.... but its ok to have the four x girls dance around in little outfits (not that im complaining) isnt that sending a bad message to teenage girls who also might watch the v8's...
