V8 Supercars ban post-race burnoutshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q79JyIalAH4Post-race V8 Supercar celebratory ‘skids’ have just become a thing of the past, as organisers announced a ban on all burnouts and ‘hoon’ driving after races. V8 Supercar CEO, Martin Whitaker, said the ban was about sending out a positive road safety message. It seems kind of contradictory on one hand, as cars flying around a track at full speed for no reason other than to entertain crowds doesn’t really give off any kind of safe driving message to begin with.Even so, during the weekend’s latest round of the V8 Supercars at Barbagallo, Perth, drivers were given a strict briefing instructing them not to do burnouts at the end of the race. Mr Whitaker recently told Speedcafe.com, “There are sound and logical reasons why we don’t encourage burnouts, not to mention we also want to send a positive message to young people when it comes to road safety and how they should behave.”Mr Whitaker added, “In fact, apart from the champion at the final event, burnouts have never been allowed for these very good reasons. We are not trying to be big brother, just take a common sense approach.”Celebratory ‘donuts’ have been going on in all types of motorsport for years, but reports say the ban was provoked and put forward after Shane Van Gisbergen conducted a large celebratory display (see video below) at the New Zealand round of V8 Supercars in Hamilton.Van Gisbergen’s effort was so large that it interrupted the post-race interview process.http://www.caradvice.com.au/117113/video-v8-supercars-ban-post-race-burnouts/Interrupted my ass...People pay good money to go and SEE that kind of thing.Yet another reason not to waste my time watching the crap. What a joke.” *varility: viral marketing bullshtJamie Whincup believes V8 Supercars will overturn the ban on post-race burnouts after he, Garth Tander and Jason Bright were all given a slap on the wrist for doing them after the third race at the Trading Post Challenge in Perth. http://www.foxsports.com.au/motor-sports/v8-supercars/teamvodafone-holden-driver-jamie-whincup-believes-burnouts-will-be-legalised-in-v8-supercars/story-fn2ms9um-1226048559935

Oh wait. So don't do a burnout which might leave an impression on young viewers, but keep to doing 300kmh. Next it will be no wheel spin on launch, no exceeding speed limit, indicate if you want to overtake and if you bump someone, pull over and exchange insurance details. Was this channel 7s idea or v8sc or both?
