Has anybody had the experience of a ticking noise coming from the throtle body, when you turn the ignition key,to the just before starting eng position,to prime the fuel system ?

The sound dissapears once you start the motor

Also idle is pretty ordinary when car is stationary, other then a screwed tps,any other ideas ?

Thanks in advance RIPGMH

The ticking noise is the PCM cycling the throttle body to calibrate the TPS. Its normal. If you TPS is knackered the PCM will spot it when it does this calibration.

There are two sensors in the TPS one goes from approx .7+ve to 4.7+ve and the other goes from approx 4.7+ve to .7+ve. The PCM looks for both of these changes in voltage as it cycles the Throttle body.

If your idles up too shite and you aren't getting and engine light do the usual TB clean, if that does help it could be a tune issue

Thanks for your feedback , ill try cleaning the throtle body first, then look into the tune as plan B

The ticking noyse is very fast ,at first I thought it was a stuffed relay under the dash, but upon closer look, found a very rapid ticking noyse in the throtle body, like when one of your indicator globes is blown and your indicator speeds up !

*Noise :)
